Dead quiet on the vast sea. Even the birds know there will be no fish to catch.

A big squid that that got it’s tentacles hooked. The steaks I cut from it was

great to look at, but no matter what I tried it remained tough as rubber.

These swells were about 8 meter from bottom to top. Its good sailing because they are 100/150 meters apart and at times one surfs down them giving Gaia up to 8 knots.

After the forestay broke, this is all the sail I could hoist. Roughly 10% of what is normal.

I used my small genoa and tied sail hanks to it to increase my sail area. On the right is

The final version of my improvised forestay. Despite my misgivings and doubts it took me home.

Gaia entering Gordons Bay harbour – back on home ground….

Home in Gordons Bay. The growth is excessive and as a result of the wrong anti-foul

paint put on in Brazil. Bad advice, I should have stuck to what I know.
