Principals Corner

It is hard to believe that it is December. Benchmark testing will take place this month. Please be sure that you know when your child is taking a test, so that they sleep well the night before.

We are still working on daily attendance, be sure that your child is here on time and prepared for the school day. If your child is not going to be in school, please call the front office.

I would like to wish you and your family a wonderful holiday season!

Thanks for your continued support!

~Mrs. Wright

Vocabulary Parade

Students had an exciting time in the annual Vocabulary Parade! Each year, teachers read the book Miss Alaineus: A Vocabulary Disaster by Debra Frasier. Students chose a vocabulary word and created posters or costumes to model their word. Classes went to the gym for a parade. Students took turns at the microphone to tell about their words. Wilym Wood, pictured left, won first place. Second place went to Taraji Ramsey, and third place went to Wynter Kilson.

Pumpkin Patch Fun

The combined classes of Mrs. Rakes, Ms. Gardner, and Mrs. Ballantine recently went to Layman Farms. Students combined a great day of fun with learning about life cycles.

One Book, One School

This fall, our third through fifth grade students are reading the book Wonder by R. J. Palacio. The theme of the book is choosing kindness. We are all different in appearance, but we choose to be kind to each other. Grades PreK through second grade are reading picture books about choosing kindness. Students were treated to a special visitor during the kick off assembly. George Dennehy was born without arms, but he hasnt let that become a disability. Be sure and ask your child about the things that George can do!

November 16 was Read to Me Day at Lincoln Terrace. This was a national event where community leaders came to school to read to students. Every year, AEP donates a book to the school library. Thanks to everyone who came to read to our students!

First grade teachers and volunteers worked together to make a Thanksgiving dinner for all the 1st grade students. The classes dined in the library where teachers had decorated the tables. Students enjoyed a feast of turkey, mashed potatoes, and dessert. Students had a sharing time where teachers and students told what they were thankful for.
