Workshop and Poster Session Proposal Format

Please use this format in a Word documentEmail it to [email protected] by January 6 , 2018

1. This is a proposal for [ ] a 90-minute workshop on Thursday, May 17, 2018

or [ ] a poster session on Wed night, May 16 – see below

2. Workshop or poster title (for the Agenda):

3. Contact person’s name, email, and phone number:

4. Presenter(s), with their role, such as Parent or Program Director (not academic title):

5. Name of agencies, organizations, and/or schools that are involved:

6. Which of the 20 topics described in the Call for Papers will you address? If “Other”, please describe.

7. Brief description for the conference agenda. Around 50 words. Avoid jargon, define acronyms.

8. Thorough description for use by the Board in the selection process. The Call for Papers describes

some of the Board’s values and criteria.

For workshops only, not poster sessions

9. Four or five brief objectives (‘Participants will be able to…’).

10. Attach a brief bio of the primary presenter which includes their qualifications for facilitating the workshop

content. This could be summarized in 3-4 sentences.

Laptops: Projector and screen is provided, but not a laptop. Please bring your own. Handouts: Please email handouts and PPT slides to [email protected] by April 1 so that we can post

them on our website and conference app. Bring 30 copies to the conference.Reg Fees: We ask presenters to pay the Registration Fees. We would not have a conference without you, the

presenters, but we would also not have a conference without Registration Fees. The 2018 Reg Fees will be online by Dec 1 – www.CMHACY.org

Lodging: Lodging is available at Asilomar Conference Grounds and in the surrounding area. Info regarding Asilomar Lodging will be online by Dec 1

Proposal Writing Tips – Keep it simple. Prepare objectives (# 9 above) that will help guide the participants’ participation. The objectives will be included in their Conference App for reference during the workshop. In the objectives, use measurable verbs. The Poster Session is a recent addition to the conference. It’s a great opportunity for attendees to share their work in an informal setting and is a great venue for new presenters.
