1. Using a cardboard or cardstock template, trace the flower templates onto colored paper. Cut them out.

2. If you are choosing to make the complex flower, make sure all three designs are in different colors, then glue them together. Have a teacher use a hole punch to punch a hole through the center of the flower.

If you are choosing to make a simple flower, simply trace the template on colored paper and cut out the flower that you choose. Have an adult use a hole punch to punch a hole through the center of the flower.

3. Tape your string to your desk. 4. Make a pattern threading ½” pieces of straws and paper flowers.

Paper Flower Templates**Each child should have one flower printed on cardstock or posterboard and cut out to use as a template. They can trace the template on colored paper and then cut those out.

The flowers can be traced on three different colors to be pieced together into one flower and glued. This will add depth to the flowers. For a simpler project, have students simply choose one or two of the designs and trace them onto colored paper and alternately string them.
