Development Officer, CAS/Honors/HealthUniversity of Alaska Anchorage

University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) seeks a fundraising professional for an exciting position in the Office of University Advancement. The Development Officer will work with the Senior Development Officer overseeing fundraising for the College of Arts and Sciences, the University Honors College and Health Programs to strengthen private support to these areas.

The Development Officer will be responsible for managing a portfolio of high-end annual donors and prospective donors, with the expected range of gifts from $1,000-$25,000. An increasing emphasis is being placed on cultivating soliciting and stewarding individual donors, particularly alumni. Based in University Advancement, the Development Officer will enjoy the collaboration and support of professionals in Development, Alumni Relations, and University Relations. The focus of the Development Officer will be to raise funds and steward donors for:

The College of Arts and Sciences, the home and heart of the academic tradition at UAA. The college provides foundational education in the liberal arts and sciences for all student, as well as undergraduate and graduate degree programs in the humanities, the fine arts, the mathematical, natural and social sciences.

The Honors College, the catalyst for developing a culture of excellence and student success at UAA. The college advances, coordinates, and administers active learning and undergraduate research opportunities for students across the campus and works in partnership with all of UAA’s colleges to help students develop the necessary leadership and academic skills to reach their full potential.

Health programs at UAA, including Allied Health, Nursing, Physician Assistant and WWAMI Biomedical Programs. As the designated health programs campus for the UA System, UAA provides evidence-based education and research for Alaska’s second largest employment sector. UAA works with industry, professional organizations and alumni statewide to ensure these programs keep pace with this vital and rapidly growing sector.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated success or aptitude in fund raising; exceptional written, oral communication and interpersonal skills; strong attention to detail; experience in donor relations or stewardship; understanding of the motivations of individuals to give philanthropically; and the ability to work well in a team.
