Qur’an Journal Procedure

Get to Qur’an class on time. Sit down and pull out your packet and begin writing your

reflections on that day’s selection from the Qur’an. The timer will be set for 3 minutes from the time class

begins. Following that, we will have a 2 minute class discussion. You

may take notes during the discussion.

Memorization Plan Procedure

Every Monday, you will decide which Surahs/Ayat you will be memorizing/reviewing that week. Please think ahead. No more than 3 minutes will be given in class for filling out the weekly plan.

All students must BEGIN with a review of Juz’ ‘Amma. You may choose to work on another portion alongside your

‘Amma review. Ms. Yasmine will sign when she approves your plan. Choose a tester. I highly recommend that you choose a

parent or teacher to test you. Friends will be accepted as testers on a case-by-case basis.

Your tester will grade you using the following scale. 1 = Proficient memorization 2 = Memorization needs some touching up 3 = Passage requires full review

Your tester must sign after they test you. Comments on how you can improve are highly recommended.

You do NOT have to test every day. You are required to test AT LEAST 3 days a week. You may choose which 3 days you want to be tested on. Choose wisely. You may test every day if you wish.

Page 4: Web viewAll students must BEGIN with a review of Juz’ ‘Amma. You may choose to work on another portion alongside your ‘Amma review

Qur’an Log Procedure

Spend time with the Qur’an each day. Write the names and numbers of Surahs and Ayahs you

worked on. Use the following code to let me know whether you were

reciting Qur’an, memorizing new Qur’an, reviewing what you already know, or reading the meaning in English.

T = Tilawah (recitation)H = Hifz (memorization)M = Muraja’ah (review) F = Fahm (understanding)

Record the time you spent. Add up the minutes and write the total. You must spend a MINIMUM of 100 minutes per week with

the Qur’an. This is part of your Qur’an grade. The more you interact with the Qur’an the better!

Vocabulary Procedure

Each Monday you will receive a list of 15 new words. We will go over the meanings of the words together.

Complete vocabulary homework practice exercises in your packet during the week.

Each Friday you will take a vocabulary quiz. It will test you on the 15 new words AND previously learned words.

Page 5: Web viewAll students must BEGIN with a review of Juz’ ‘Amma. You may choose to work on another portion alongside your ‘Amma review

Recitation Day Procedure

Each Friday is Recitation Day. As soon as you complete journal responses and vocabulary

quiz (which you will place in drawer), you will get a mushaf. This year we will focus on Surat al-Fatihah and Juz’ ‘Amma.

Pay attention to each student’s recitation and the teacher’s feedback. Utilize this to evaluate how to improve your own recitation.

Packet Submission Procedure

As soon as you arrive to class on Monday, put your packet in the drawer assigned for your class.

Promptly return to your seat and begin working on your journal reflections.

54:17- And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember?

4:174- O mankind, there has come to you a conclusive proof from your Lord, and We have sent down to you a clear light.

16:89- And [mention] the Day when We will resurrect among every nation a witness over them from themselves. And We will bring you, [O Muhammad], as a witness over your nation. And We have sent down to you the Book as clarification for all things and as guidance and mercy and good tidings for the Muslims.

17:9- Indeed, this Qur'an guides to that which is most suitable and gives good tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that they will have a great reward.

14:1- Alif, Lam, Ra. [This is] a Book which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], that you might bring mankind out of darknesses into the light by permission of their Lord - to the path of the Exalted in Might, the Praiseworthy.

3:138- This [Qur'an] is a clear statement to [all] the people and a guidance and instruction for those conscious of Allah.

2:2- This is the Book about which there is no doubt, a guidance for those conscious of Allah.

4:105- Indeed, We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], the Book in truth so you may judge between the people by that which Allah has shown you. And do not be for the deceitful an advocate.

26:2- These are the verses of the clear Book.

6:155- And this [Qur'an] is a Book We have revealed [which is] blessed, so follow it and fear Allah that you may receive mercy.

7:2- [This is] a Book revealed to you, [O Muhammad] - so let there not be in your breast distress therefrom - that you may warn thereby and as a reminder to the believers.

Page 14: Web viewAll students must BEGIN with a review of Juz’ ‘Amma. You may choose to work on another portion alongside your ‘Amma review

10:37- And it was not [possible] for this Qur'an to be produced by other than Allah , but [it is] a confirmation of what was before it and a detailed explanation of the [former] Scripture, about which there is no doubt, from the Lord of the worlds.

12:2- Indeed, We have sent it down as an Arabic Qur'an that you might understand.

6:115- And the word of your Lord has been fulfilled in truth and in justice. None can alter His words, and He is the Hearing, the Knowing.

7:52- And We had certainly brought them a Book which We detailed by knowledge - as guidance and mercy to a people who believe.

39:23- Allah has sent down the best statement: a consistent Book wherein is reiteration. The skins shiver therefrom of those who fear their Lord; then their skins and their hearts relax at the remembrance of Allah . That is the guidance of Allah by which He guides whom He wills. And one whom Allah leaves astray - for him there is no guide.

41:44- And if We had made it a non-Arabic Qur'an, they would have said, "Why are its verses not explained in detail [in our language]? Is it a foreign [recitation] and an Arab [messenger]?" Say, "It is, for those who believe, a guidance and cure." And those who do not believe - in their ears is deafness, and it is upon them blindness. Those are being called from a distant place.

25: 1- Blessed is He who sent down the Criterion upon His Servant that he may be to the worlds a warner.

20:4- A revelation from He who created the earth and highest heavens.
