Advent Sermon Series: The Christmas Carol of Luke

This Weeks text: Luke 2:1-14 Darkness and Light, Glory and Peace

The Christmas Carol of Luke: Week 3 Questions and Notes

-What do the opening verses of chapter 2 tell us about the dark times that Jesus is being born into?

-In the face of such powerful, overwhelming, geo-political evil, what difference could the Word of God a baby in a manger a son of David possibly make?

What difference did the Word of God in Micah 5:2-4 make?

What difference did the Word of God in Isaiah 7:10-14 and 9:1-7 make?

What difference did the Word of God in 2 Samuel 7:8-16 make?

What difference did the Word of God in Ezekiel 34:20-31 and Jeremiah 33:14-22 make?

What difference has the Word of God in Luke 2:7 made in our world?

According to Michael Card, in The Promise, shepherds were considered such nobodies in New Testament Israel that they were not allowed to testify in a court of law.

-Why do you think that the first eye witnesses that God choses to bring the Good News of Messiah to are such nobodies?

What do you think shows God at His most glorious?

What do you think is mankinds greatest need?

The unfathomable good news of the angels is that Jesus, that baby lying in a feeding trough, is the intersection of God at His most glorious and our greatest need, peace.

-Have you brought your need to King Jesus, that He might reign over and through all of your life?
