Refund Policy:  All refund requests must be sent in writing to the District Office. A full refund will be given if requested prior to the registration deadline, January

22, 2018. A 50% refund will be given if requested during the time between January 22, 2018 and January 27, 2018.  No refunds will be given after January 27, 2018.

Emergencies will be handled on a case-by-case basis and will need to be approved by District Administrator Jon Freeman.  All approved refunds will be issued within

Circle K InternationalCODE OF CONDUCT

The Ohio District Circle K International Board of Representatives hopes that every participant and guest will fully enjoy the 61st Annual Circle K International District Convention. The following Code of Conduct will be in effect during the Circle K International District Convention in Bowling Green, OH, from February 16

to February 18, 2018.

The following is the Code of Conduct as written in the International Policy Code, Section I: Conduct, and will be in effect at all Circle K International conventions and events.

1. No drugs of any nature, except for prescribed medication, will be permitted in the possession of anyone in attendance.

2. The Circle K International Sponsored Conventions and Events Alcohol Policy, prohibiting the possession, sale, and/or consumption of alcoholic beverages during any event or situation sponsored or promoted by Circle K, will be enforced at all times during the event.

3. Sexual harassment is defined as behavior marked by aggressive or harassing remarks, unwanted physical contact or sexual advances, requests for sexual favors or other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature which is unsolicited and offensive to the individual or otherwise creates an intimidating, hostile or offensive environment. Circle K International will not tolerate sexual harassment.

4. There is no curfew hour; however, in consideration of others, Circle K members must be in rooms, with closed doors, by 1:30AM and gatherings must be contained within the room. Loud noises and disruptive behavior will not be tolerated.

5. No campaign material will be allowed to be posted on any walls, windows, or doors in the hotel facility. The candidate will be responsible for restoring all surfaces to their original state should this occur.

6. Smoking is prohibited at all general sessions, contests, workshops and caucuses. Additionally, attendees must adhere to the smoking guidelines of the hotel and all host LSSP sites.

7. Care shall be taken not to deface or destroy any property. Any damages will be paid for by the individual responsible.

8. All Circle K members are expected to conduct themselves as responsible, professional men and women and are required to attend all sessions and activities.

9. Please see program for dress code. Appropriate clothing must be worn at all times. 10. Every attendee will respect the authority of the Director of Circle K International and the Sergeant-at-

Arms Committee. 11. Infractions of the code of conduct will be reported to the International Board of Representatives or the

Director of Circle K International. Appropriate action will be taken for any infraction, including the dismissal of any attendee from the event at the expense of the individual.

12. The code of conduct is in effect from the moment an attendee arrives at the event until the moment he or she departs.

Circle K International (CKI) is the largest collegiate community service and leadership development organization in the world.  The Ohio District of Circle K brings service and leadership opportunities to over 400 members in 20 clubs throughout the state.  The members of the Ohio District are dedicated to serving their campuses and communities year-round, completing over 15,000 hours of service last year alone.    

This year the 61st Annual Ohio District Circle K Convention will be held in Bowling Green, Ohio from February 16 to February 18, 2018 at Bowling Green State University The weekend will be a time for members across the state to gather to elect new district officers, attend various skill building workshops, meet members from other clubs, and participate in service.  

You can help make the convention a success by placing an advertisement in the convention program.  These advertisements are limited only by your imagination, but provide an ideal opportunity to congratulate people, recognize individual Circle K clubs, advertise your business or place of work, and give thanks to your supporters. Ordering your advertisement is very simple. All you need to do is choose the size you want, create your advertisement, and mail a copy of the completed advertisement to the address below. The sizes and prices are:

Full Page Advertisements (8.5” X 5.5”) - $50

Half Page Advertisements (4.25” X 5.5”) - $30

Back again this year, you have the option of becoming a patron! For $10, you can have your name mentioned in the program, along with an optional message of up to 100 characters.

District Governor: Similar duties to club president, but on a larger scale. Assist officers in clubs across the state with event planning, recruiting, etc. Lead the district board in planning for the year and planning the district events.

District Secretary-Treasurer: Similar duties to club secretary and treasurer. Takes notes at district board meetings. Reads secretary MRFs and calculates service hours, interclubs, and Kiwanis family relations each month. Helps create budget for the year, collect and disburse district’s money and manage dues process.

Lieutenant Governors: Serve as a liaison between clubs and the district. Visit the division's clubs and help them become better. Provide help in planning events, recruiting, and other general questions from club officers. The Lieutenant Governor also will help people who are trying to start new clubs.

Committee Chairs (selections made by application which will be released after DCON):

Laws, Regulations & Awards: Update and manage the district’s bylaws and policy codes. Prepare amendments for district convention, serve as elections chair at convention, and educate the membership on district and international amendments.

Technology: Update the district's website and social media sites. Maintain the website as a marketing tool and as an archive of past events and communications.

Public Relations: Help clubs market their open houses, events, and their clubs in general.

Member Development and Education: Help clubs reach their membership goals and retain members.

K-Family Chair*: Help clubs work with other branches of the Kiwanis family throughout the year.

Service Chair*: Responsible for promotion of international service partners and events and providing clubs with any necessary service information/resources.

OHIO DISTRICT CIRCLE K SCHOLARSHIPS

The Ohio District Circle K created this scholarship to provide recognition and financial assistance toward education for members of Circle K clubs in the Ohio District. Recipients should demonstrate excellence in all areas of their college experience. The successful applicant will have achieved academic success, leadership abilities, and provided service to others. Financial need is not a factor in this award.

The scholarship will be presented at the Ohio Circle K District Convention February 16th to February 18, 2018.

Qualifications

Be a member in good standing with his/her home club, the Ohio District, and Circle K International.

Have full-time status the academic year the scholarship is awarded and the semester following.

Be enrolled in good standing with said college or university and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale.

Current elected District Board members of the Ohio District of Circle K International or International Board members are not eligible.

All applicants must submit ALL the following and have all signatures needed to be eligible. Official application form One (1) letter of recommendation from one of the following: Kiwanis advisor, Faculty

advisor or professor One (1) letter of recommendation from a fellow Circle K member An official college or university transcript A letter of verification indicating full time status from the Office of the Registrar or the

Office of the Dean of Students A typed, double spaced essay written by the applicant (shall not exceed 3 pages). Please

remember the quality of the essay is more important than the number of pages you write. The topic is as follows:

Circle K is an organization dedicated to the ideals of service, leadership, and fellowship; Community service is the most visible of the three ideals.  How does the ideal of leadership serve the members of Circle K International?  What benefit does it provide to the individual member, and how has it affected you personally?
