Can you make a phonics word tree for different spellings of /ai/? You could use some in the example below and add your own.

Mental maths:Can you count in 2’s from the number 40 forwards and backwards?

Practical Maths:Today you are going to go on a shape scavenger hunt

How many different shapes can you find in your house and garden? Complete the 2D and 3D scavenger hunt activity sheet.

Science:Many of the animals in the rainforest are green, this is so they can use camouflage to hide from their predators.

Can you now make a phonics word tree for different spellings of /ee/? This time you could make a phonics rainbow?

Remember if you are not sure about a spelling, check it in a dictionary or ask a grown up.

Can you draw an animal that uses camouflage to hide?

WEDNESDAY

Open the document called ‘Animal Fact Files.’

Read or ask a family member to read to you and listen about Scarlet Macaws and Jaguars.

Creative writing:Draw one of the rainforest animals you have read about in ‘Animal Fact Files.’

Can you write 5 sentences to describe what your animal looks like?

Remember to use adjectives to help you describe.

Challenge: can you use more than one adjective for a noun and separate your adjectives using a comma?

 Mental maths:Can you remember the pattern for counting in 5’s? The number always ends in a 0 or 5. Practice counting backwards from 50 to 0.

Online maths:Log into MyMaths and complete the task‘2d and 3D shape’

Geography:Rainforests are made up of four layers. Watch this clip to learn more about them.

Can you work out this riddle? I will give you a clue, it is an animal.

Mental maths: Start at 100 and count back in 10’s to 0. Time yourself. How quickly can you do this? Can you improve your time?

Practical Maths: Upload to DB please. Available from 8th June – 19th.A right angle is where 2 sides meet, in for example a square or a rectangle / oblong. It’s also known as a ’quarter turn’

Have a hunt around your house or garden and make a list of all the things you can find which has a right

Geography:

Watch the PowerPoint ‘Layers of the Rainforest.’

Using the document ‘Layers of the rainforest’ cut and stick the animals onto the correct layers.

Or you could draw the animals onto the layers of the rainforest drawing you completed yesterday.

Creative writing: can you write your own riddle about an animal in the Amazon? You could use your animal you described on Wednesday.

Use these questions to help you.

What does the animal look like?What does the animal eat?Where in the Amazon does the animal live?

Remember to use ‘I’ in each riddle sentence and to finish with ‘What am I?’ question.

Challenge: can you use adjectives to help you describe in your riddle?

Upload your riddle onto DB. It will be available from 8th June – 19th.

You could also post your riddle on our Year 2 Blog. Can anyone guess what animal your riddle is about?

Mental maths:Practise counting in 3’s from 0 forwards. Use a 100 square (on DB primary) if it helps you or use your monsters from last week. Now practice counting backwards from 39.

Online maths:Log into MyMaths and complete the task‘3D shape’

ChallengeNow for some colouring in! Can you find the 2D shapes on these 3D shapes? (see activity sheet ‘3D shape colouring.’

Squared or dotted paper might be helpful for the challenge - it's available to download online.

French Fridays!Mrs Dent will be planning some French activities for you which will be on a DB page named ‘French.’
