Madison’s Trust Elementary School’s November 2016 Kindergarten News Dear Parents, It was so very nice to meet all of you and discuss your child’s individual progress at our fall conferences. We are so appreciative of all your help and support at home! Thank you for reading with your child every day! We are very pleased with the continued progress all of our students have made during this first quarter of school. With PALS testing completed, we will begin our guided reading groups. During this time, we continue to work in small groups participating in reading instruction, word work and other literacy activities. We hope you will be able to join us on Friday, November 18 th during American Education Week to see some of the activities we do here at school! Please always feel free to contact us through e-mail regarding any issues concerning your child. We wish you and your families a wonderful Thanksgiving and a happy, relaxing break! Attributes/Sorting Learning ABC’s and sounds

Writing & Counting Numbers Matching Uppercase & Lowercase Letters

Ordinal Numbers Tracking, pointing when reading

Geometry/Shapes Learning sight Words

Skip Counting by 5’s & 10’s Characters/Setting

Reading Strategy of the Month When your child is reading a book at home, be sure that he/she is pointing to each word, “one word, one point”. If your child inserts an extra word when reading, or the words and points aren’t matching, ask him or her to “go back and re-read to make it match”.
