English This term we will using Despicable Me and
Despicable Me 2 to help with our writing. We will be writing persuasive texts to
promote our favourite characters. We will be creating character profiles and
exploring how writers create heroes and villains through language and action.
We will be comparing texts and writing reviews.
Geography & History: We will be exploring the water cycle in order to help Gru with his next master plan. We will map villains throughout the world and look at some from history.
D&T: We will be sewing this term making minion bookmarks.
Cooking: We will cook Minion cupcakes. Music: We will create minion music using
Garage band on the iPads – music for villains. ICT: We will edit and improve texts using
Word. RE: We will be learning about sacred books
and teachings. British Values: We will explore what makes
a good citizen: modern day British heroes. PSHE: Improving ourselves and our work.
History, Geography, Art, Music, D&T RE PSHE and
ICT
We will be exploring light and shadows. We will be looking at the moon and
helping Gru to capture it by creating fact files.
We will learn about evaporation and condensation.
We will communicate scientifically.
We will continue our swimming lessons on Fridays. Please remember your child will need a full swimming kit, swim hat and towel.
A PE kit should be kept in school this term: Year 3 is Thursdays and Year 4 is Wednesdays.
Practice multiplication tables together at home – it is one of the most important pieces of home learning as it makes maths much easier.
Read with your children at least 3 times a week and record it in their diary.
Involve children in everyday maths tasks like shopping and cooking and make these connections “We are using maths today by…”
Homework is sent home on a Friday to be returned on Wednesdays.
Spellings – please see separate Spelling Mats. Reading – please record this in the reading journal.
