Joe was a little boy with a big idea. What did he want to do? Why do you think he wanted to do this? Do you have any ideas that you think could change the world? Or make it a better and brighter place? Joe planted the seed from an apple, what other pieces of food have seeds in them? Could you draw them or make a

list? Are there any plants that you have grown over your time at home? Could you sketch them out, could you do a

before and after picture?

Writing‘One Day on our Blue Planet… in the Savannah’ by Ella BaileyTake a look at the next two pages in the book. Have a go at reading the page, or get an adult to help you.

The author describes the cubs’ father as ‘very, very big… and his roar is very, very loud’. She uses the word big to describe his size and uses loud to describe his roar. These words are known as adjectives as they describe something. We would like you to write a few descriptive sentences (or a paragraph if you fancy the challenge, just write as much as you can) about one of the animals from these pages in the book. As you are describing the animal we would like for your work to mainly use adjectives.

Here is a picture of the key of animals from the front of the book, just encase you’re not sure which animal is which!

We cannot wait to real your descriptive passages!Challenge

Could use a thesaurus and find some more interesting words too. Can you include an Expanded Noun Phrase in your writing (the big, brown buffalo)

Here is an adjectives grid to help…
