Notes for Parents
It is important for students to spend 20 minutes each night independently reading. They may choose to read their A.R. book, homework activities, or any other reading
material they are interested in. Research shows students who read 20 minutes per day increase their fluency and comprehension skills.

find patterns? Why is it important to spell grade
appropriate words correctly? Writing
What are transitional words and how do we use them when we write?

Math How do I solve word problems involving
decimals? How do I use fractions and decimals interchangeably?
How do I identify points, lines, line segments, rays, angles, and perpendicular and parallel lines in two dimensional figures?
Science I can compare and contrast the
differences between stars and planets. I can obtain, evaluate, and
communicate information to compare and contrast the physical attributes of stars and planets.
HOMEWORKStudent Choice: Reading Log can be completed in the
morning during STAR time, or in the afternoon for homework. Students will need to read for 20 minutes at
