Title: Intern, Marketing Reports to: Senior Manager, Marketing Summary: Under the supervision of Senior Manager, Marketing, this position supports the Museum’s marketing department. Gain valuable work experience in fast-paced inhouse ad agency at prestigious museum’s marketing department as a paid intern. Employment Classification: Part-time, 10 -15 hours per week. Work schedule is determined by museum needs but is typically hours during the business week, but may also include night, weekend and holiday work hours as assigned by supervisor. General Responsibilities: Participate in the creative conception, planning, and execution of departmental projects. Assist in ensuring that all museum’s online channels, including Discovery Gateway’s social media and website, are up to date. Assist with content creation. Assist with reputation management and respond to online reviews. Some assistance for Graphic Designer with layouts. Qualifications: College experience with course work in strategic communications. Communication Skills: Collaboration with co-workers, management, and customers. Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills. Must be computer proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, and databases. Experience with WordPress a plus. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite a plus. Must be familiar with online channels including all social media platforms, google, Trip Advisor, and Yelp. Interest in marketing and communications within a nonprofit institution. Working Conditions: Ability to cope with the stress of a fast-paced work environment.

Summary: Under the supervision of Senior Manager, Marketing, this position supports the Museum’s marketing department. Gain valuable work experience in fast-paced inhouse ad agency at prestigious museum’s marketing department as a paid intern.

Working Conditions: Ability to cope with the stress of a fast-paced work environment. Ability to function in a high-pressure environment and to meet stringent

deadlines for completing tasks. Ability to work irregular work hours when needed. Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time. Must be able to lift and carry supplies weighing at least 30 pounds. Ability to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time. Position requires bending, leaning, kneeling, twisting, and walking. Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate needs.

Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency.
