Name: Missouri Cattleman Scholarship Program

Amount: $1,000Deadline: September 2015Applicants must be a Missouri resident and a current paid member of the Missouri Junior Cattleman’s Association or the parent/legal guardian must be a current paid member of the Missouri Cattleman’s Association. Students must meet the following requirements: 2.5 GPA or better, submit three (3) letters of recommendation, submit a transcript, and demonstrate leadership potential through extracurricular activities and work experience. Preference may be given to students who plan to attend a Missouri college or university & have financial need. Preference also given to those planning to major in an Agriculture field,

Name: QuestBridgeAmount: VariesDeadline: September 2015Applicants who have demonstrated academic excellence and come from low-income households are invited to apply. Questbridge works to help students access top-tier educational opportunities. The following is taken into account when evaluating applications: GPA, class rank (top 10%), rigor of high school curriculum, test scores, writing ability, and recommendations. Most finalists for this program come from households earning less than $60,000. Applicants will be need three letters of recommendation and a transcript. Apply online at www.questbridge.org.

AES offers scholarships to motivated students to help in the furthering of their education. Scholarships are intended for future leaders across a wide spectrum of fields of study. Students are not required to take engineering courses to be eligible for this scholarship. The student will submit an essay of 500-1,000 words in answer to the topic/question listed on the website. Essays must be submitted to the following email address: [email protected]. There is no application packet and student must include their full name, name of high school, and plans for next year. Name: Patrick L. Newman Mic-O-Say ScholarshipAmount: $1000Deadline: October 2015Any current Camp Geiger Tribesman of Mic-O-Say who is active in the program and registered with the Boy Scouts can apply for this scholarship. Must be planning to pursue a formal program of higher education. More information is available online at http://www.micosay.org/resource-center/scholarships.

Seniors who apply must have financial need ($55,000 or less in family income), have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity, at least a 2.0 GPA, strength of character and a desire to contribute to society. Must be a graduating senior with a commitment to pursuing a bachelor's degree and a US citizen. Students will need to provide their school counselor's email address in order for their application to be certified.  An email address will also need to be provided for the individual who is completing the "Support and Verification" form for you.  A transcript and a copy of the front page of your parent/guardian's 2014 individual federal tax return must be provided as well.  Applications available online at https://www.horatioalger.org/scholarships/index.cfm.

Name: Cotillion for AchievementAmount: $700-1800Deadline: October 2015Students attending school in Andrew and Buchanan county that demonstrate high academic achievements, involvement in school activities and community service, plus high moral and ethical standards should apply. An ACT or SAT score is required.  If selected as a Cotillion finalist students will need to attend "Adventures for Achievement" sessions, participate in the final interview, as well as attend the Cotillion Ball in March (a formal event).

This is a merit-based program (minimum 3.0 GPA to apply). Students are evaluated on leadership, community and extracurricular activities; academic achievement and employment. The first application is a preliminary online application and does not require an essay or transcript. Students will be notified by mid-November if they are a semifinalist and will be asked to provide more documentation at that point. Name: Missouri S&T Chancellor's ScholarshipAmount: $12,000Deadline: October 2015Highly competitive scholarship awarded to 15 students and is renewable with a 3.25 GPA. Eligibility for this scholarship is met by the following criteria: 1.) must be in the upper 10% of graduating class after six (6) semesters OR have a GPA of 3.75; 2.) Must take the ACT (or SAT) by October and receive a score of 31 or better; 3.) Have strong leadership skills through school and community activities; and 4.) Resident of Missouri. Must apply for admission online apply.mst.edu and submit an official transcript (by October 15th is recommended to allow for processing time). The scholarship application is only available online and cannot be completed until your paperwork for admissions is received. Applicants must also submit a 750 word essay (topic provided) and should follow the instructions on the website below. Name: Kansas State University Freshman ScholarshipsAmount: VariesDeadline: October 2015Students must complete the K-State admissions and scholarship application before the November 1st deadline in order to be considered for scholarships. Name:            University of Arkansas-New Arkansan Non-Resident Tuition ScholarshipAmount:         Reduced rate on out of state tuitionDeadline:        October 2015 Entering freshmen with a 3.60 or higher cumulative GPA and a 26 or higher ACT will receive a New Arkansan NRTA that pays 90% of the difference between the in-state and out-of-state tuition. Entering freshmen with a 3.25-3.59 cumulative GPA and a 24 or higher ACT (1090 SAT combined math and critical reading) will receive an New Arkansan NRTA that pays 80% of the difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition. Students must have the application, ACT Scores, and transcript sent to the admissions office by November 1. Name:            Voice of Democracy ScholarshipAmount:         $1,000-$16,000, Grand Prize- $30,000Deadline:        October 2015 Students compete by writing and recording an audio essay on an annual patriotic theme. This year’s theme is,Why Veterans are Important to our Nation’s History and Future. Record your original 3-5 minute (+ or – 5 seconds max.) essay on a standard cassette tape or audio CD. Essays are judged on originality, content and delivery. Students will need to bring their application and recording to the Counseling Center and we will give it to our local post.Prizes and scholarships are awarded at the post, district, state and national level. Department (State) winners receive an all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C., to tour the city, be honored by the VFW and its Ladies Auxiliary and receive their portion of $152,000 in national awards, the top scholarship being $30,000. Voice of Democracy Application

African-American students who excel academically, exemplify exceptional leadership potential, make an impact on their communities, and demonstrate financial need. Previous winners have been in the top 10% of their class. The scholarship may be used at any four-year college or university and is not limited to particular academic disciplines. There are two deadlines; the November 1st deadline allows students to submit their application to other scholarship providers and the Ron Brown Scholars Program.  The January 9th deadline is for the Ron Brown Scholars Program only. Application materials must be mailed in one packet. Transcripts and letters of recommendation should not be sent under separate cover. Incomplete, e-mailed or faxed applications will not be considered. Applicants need to complete two essays (500 words or less) and provide two (2) letters of recommendation (one must be from someone at school). Name: Carrington Dental Centre ScholarshipAmount: $500Deadline: October 2015High school seniors who will be enrolled in college, trade school or technical school no later than the Fall of 2016 may apply.  The student must answer the essay question and submit the parent recommendation letter.  The student must also be a resident of Canada or the US.  Instructions for submitting the application and recommendation can be found online at http://www.westkelownadentists.ca/apply.php.

Name: Prudential Spirit of Community AwardsAmount: $1,000-5,000Deadline: October 2015Central may nominate two students for this award. The student must describe in detail an individual service activity which is extraordinary in content and took place over the past year. To Apply: 1. Log on to http://spirit.prudential.com, click on the “Apply Now” link below, and follow the on-screen instructions. 2. Once you have completed your online application, go to the “Certification” page to either email certification instructions to [email protected] or print them out and bring them to the Counseling Center. These instructions will enable us to review your application online. 3. Before submitting your application, you and your parent or guardian must complete the student/parent agreement page, which can be found on the last tab of the application.  Once your application has been submitted and the certification page received by Mrs. Howren, a committee will then review all applications and select two students to represent Central High School. Please also submit an Activities List to the Counseling Center.

Name: W.M. & Ann Grace Foundation ScholarshipAmount: $2,000-4,000Deadline: November 2015Student must be a graduating senior with a minimum GPA of 2.0, have financial need, and a household income below $100,000. The application says a household income below $200,000 but this is for Arizona applicants. Students will also write a 200-500 word personal statement. Name: John T. Belcher Scholarship Program (MSBA)Amount: $750-1,500Deadline: November 2015Central may only nominate one student and the board of education will make the final selection as to who the district winner is. THE DEADLINE IS IN NOVEMBER, NOT JANUARY (like the website indicates). You may need to attach a separate sheet that includes your extracurricular activities, awards, etc. as there is not much room on the application to list activities. An essay is required with the topic provided on the application.

Name: UMKC Trustees Scholar ProgramAmount: Full Tuition, Room & BoardDeadline: November 2015Students must meet two of the three following academic criteria: ACT of 30 or higher, ranked in top 5% of class, minimum GPA of 3.5 in the 17-class core curriculum. Must also enroll as a full-time student and commit to living on campus for 2 years. In addition candidates are evaluated on their community and/or

school involvement as well as leadership abilities.  Must be fully admitted to UMKC before December 1st. Students applying for the 6-year med program, school of pharmacy (including pre-pharmacy), and architectural studies are not eligible for this scholarship. Name: Missouri State University Presidential ScholarshipAmount: $12,500 ($6,250 for tuition & $6,250 for on-campus housing)Deadline: November 2015Missouri State University offers this scholarship to students who are in the top 10% of their high school class (or have a 3.90/4.0 GPA) and a minimum of a 30 on the ACT (or National Merit Semifinalist).  Interviews will be held in January 2016.  Apply for admissions and the Scholarship by the deadline.  Go to the website for the application and more details.  http://www.missouristate.edu/financialaid/scholarships/freshman.htm 

Missouri State University offers this scholarship to students who either rank in the top 50% or their class (or have 3.0/4.0 GPA) combined with an ACT score of 20. Name: MU Scholars AwardAmount: $10,000Deadline: November 2015Students must have at least 33 ACT or 1450 SAT (CR + M) and be in top 5% of graduating class. ACT or SAT scores must be sent directly to MU from either ACT or the College Board. MU can no longer take test scores from high school transcripts. Eligible students must apply for admission online and earn required test score by Dec. 1st. The office of admissions will contact qualified applicants by the 3rd week in December. The applicants will be asked to submit a resume and essay. A committee will review completed and applications and make the final selections based upon credentials and supplementary materials. 35 scholarships will be awarded. Name: MU Freshmen Automatic/Competitive ScholarshipsAmount: VariesDeadline: November 2015The University of Missouri offers several scholarships for which students are considered automatically when they are admitted to MU. Other MU scholarships require the students to apply using the Annual Scholarship Application. Name: Missouri S&T Freshman Merit-based ScholarshipsAmount: VariesDeadline: November 2015Scholarships are based on ACT scores and GPA. These scholarships only require an application for admission. Check online at http://sfa.mst.edu/scholarships/freshman/ for criteria. The priority deadline is December 1st. Students planning to attend Missouri S&T are strongly encouraged to meet the priority deadline. The scholarship deadline for departmental scholarships is February 1st.

Truman has no separate scholarship application, unless otherwise noted. The materials submitted with the admission application are reviewed in the competitive scholarship selection process. Name: Earl Collins Foundation, Kiwanis InternationalAmount: $1000Deadline: November 2015Students must have a minimum ACT of 23. The scholarship is based on academic achievement, volunteer, community and extracurricular activities, honors, educational objective, letters of recommendation, and financial need. You get bonus points if you are a Key Club member or have a Kiwanis family member. Along with the application, you need evidence of your ACT/SAT scores, transcripts, extracurricular activities list (community, school, etc.) and a statement not to exceed one page in length of your educational plans and goals. Two letters of recommendation are needed.

Name: Gates Millennium ScholarsAmount: Covers unmet needDeadline: December 2015Aimed toward African Americans, Asian Pacific Americans, American Indians/Alaskan Natives, and Hispanic Americans, who are US citizens or a U.S. permanent resident, planning on attending a college/university in the fall. Must have a minimum GPA of 3.3, be accepted into an accredited college/university, meet the Federal Pell Grant eligibility criteria (demonstrate significant financial need), participated in community service and leadership in activities. The FAFSA must be completed and you are encouraged to complete it by February 1st. A complete application consists of: 1. Student Application (Nominee Personal Information Form); 2. Educator's evaluation of the student's academic record (Nominator Form); 3. Evaluation of the student's community service and leadership activities (Recommender Form). Applications can only be submitted online at http://www.gmsp.org/. 

Name: Elks Scholarship - "Most Valuable Student"Amount: $4,000-50,000Deadline: December 2015This award is given on a point system based on ACT score, verified financial need, evidence of school and community leadership skills, academics, extracurricular activities, recommendations and essay. The organization, completeness, and neatness of the application are also important. Applicants may submit up to 10 exhibits of achievement in academics, athletics, dramatics, leadership, community service, etc. (a resume/activity list is NOT an exhibit). An application will be emailed to the student from [email protected]. Students need to take the ACT before November. Your application must be in a folder with inside pockets and clasps.  Everything, except items in sealed envelopes, should be three-hole punched and placed in the clasps of the folder. Name: MSSDAR Scholarships (Multiple scholarships available)

Applicants must rank in the top 10% of their class and must be citizens of the United States, and Missouri residents. They must attend a Missouri college/university EXCEPT for the Roberta Capps Scholarship, whose recipient may attend the college or university of his/her choice. Students can apply by completing

the MSSDAR Application and Financial Need forms below. Student can only apply for 1 of the 5 scholarships (unless you are pursuing a Nursing or Medical degree). There is a lot of information needed for these scholarships so please allow yourself enough time.

Name: Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizens Award/ScholarshipAmount: $250-5,000Deadline: December 2015One Central High School senior (male or female) will be nominated based upon dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism. Student must also have school and community activities. If you are interested in participating in this scholarship contest submit the following in outline format: 1. high school activities (include offices held, awards, etc), 2. how your efforts to serve your community have made a difference, your future plans, 3. extracurricular activities, and 4. Description why the four qualities of a DAR citizen are important and how you have tried to exhibit those qualities. Also submit two letters of recommendation and high school transcript. The student selected to represent CHS will also write a 500 word essay on a topic announced at the time of the actual writing and will have two hours to complete this essay (essay will be done at school). The selected student will be expected to attend the DAR luncheon.

Name: AXA Achievement ScholarshipAmount: $10,000 (52 given, one from each state) Top Award 10-$15,000Deadline: December 2015 (or the first 10,000 applications submitted online--whichever comes first)Any student can apply who has been active in their community/workplace who also have the following qualities: drive, ambition, determination to set and reach goals, respect for self and others, and ability to succeed in college. All applications are completed online and only the first 10,000 will be accepted.  Be sure to apply early in order to assure the application is accepted. Name: Hispanic Scholarship FundAmount: $1,000-$15,000Deadline: December 2015To apply, student must be of Hispanic Heritage, minimum of 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent), plan to enroll Full-Time in an accredited not-for -profit 4 year university or graduate school during FALL of scholarship cycle year, must be a U.S. Citizen, Permanent Legal Resident, DACA or Eligible Non-Citizen (as defined by FAFSA), and must complete FAFSA. Applications are only accepted online. Name: Mensa Scholarship Essay ContestAmount: VariesDeadline: January 2016Foundation scholarships are awarded on the basis of an essay of no more than 550 words that describes the applicant’s career, vocational, or academic goals. The general awards are unrestricted as to age, race, gender, level of post-secondary education, grade point average and financial need. It is NOT necessary that the applicant be a member of Mensa. Name: Nash Music ScholarshipAmount: $1,500Deadline: January 2016This scholarship is sponsored by the Missouri State Society Daughters of the American Revolution. It is available to any boy/girl who at least a 3.0 GPA and is pursuing a degree in music. The applicant must submit a DVD or a CD of three (3) selections, from one of their performances, for music professionals to judge. The following documentation must also be submitted: financial need form (provided), a statement of 600 words or less, transcript, activity list (maximum of 2 pages), four (4) letters of recommendation from faculty at Central, photocopy of U.S. citizenship (birth certificate, passport, etc), and a CD/DVD of a performance. Please follow the instructions on the application carefully.

Name: National Multiple Sclerosis SocietyAmount: $1,000-3,000Deadline: January 2016Current high school seniors or a high school graduate (including students who have earned their GED certificate) of any age who live with MS or have a parent living with MS and will be attending an accredited post secondary school for the first time. The application is online and all supporting documents must be mailed. Supporting documents include verification of diagnosis, transcript, and at least one recommendation letter. This scholarship asks for a lot of information so please allow for plenty of time. The online application and more information is available at http://www.nationalmssociety.org/index.aspx.

Missouri State University has multiple automatic and competitive scholarships available to incoming freshman.  In most cases, the application for admission needs to be submitted by January 15th in order to be considered for these scholarships.  There are a variety of requirements and some require a separate application.  See the website for details and exact deadlines. http://www.missouristate.edu/financialaid/scholarships/freshman.htm

Aiden McVicker is an 11 year old boy who lives in Cameron, MO and was born with bilateral anophthalmia. This means that he was born without eyes or any eye structure (optic chiasm, nerve, etc.). As a result, Aiden does not possess vision or light perception. Aiden has an extraordinary spirit and an unmatched love of life that the world needs to know.  This scholarship was developed to create awareness for children with special needs and to help recruit and develop the special needs workforce in our area.  If you are considering a career working with students with special needs or if you have overcome hardships, your own learning disabilities or difficulties, you should apply for this scholarship.

A graduating senior from CHS who has interest in music, drama, theater, fine arts or band and plans to either major, minor or participate in some type of fine arts activity in college.  One letter of recommendation is required along with a 1-2 page essay. See scholarship application for details.
