Mrs. Rosales’ Class – Week of November 4 th What are we Learning? **Reading Unit 3: NonFiction Unit **Time for Kids ** National Geographic Kids** Germs Make Me Sick** Differences between informational and literature texts Text features including captions, bold print, sub-headings, glossary, index, electronic menus, icons, illustrations Authors write with a purpose Paragraphs are organized by topic. **Writing Unit 2: Information Books on “Know Topics” They will pick a topic they know a lot about and begin to write the information on notecards. They will r ecall information from experiences and write ideas based on interests and their background knowledge. **Spelling Pattern – Week 9: Long i -igh, i_e, ie. We will practice our spelling words in one of the reading rotations. Kids learn their new words, mostly, by practicing at home. Spelling homework will be optional.
