Table Activity: Farm Scenes Colour by Number1. Parent Center: Easter Bunny Craft

This center will be lead by a classroom parent, so it will be accompanied with clear instructions indicating how to lead the students through the activity. This center is more craft-based and easy to instruct for parents. The materials will be laid out ahead of time, directions will be explained to the parent, instructions will be written out step-by-step on paper, and an exemplar will be provided. Materials:

White doily White circle 2 pink circles Pink ears White ears Eyes Black Whiskers Black markers Blue paper Gluesticks

Easter Bunny Craft InstructionsTo make the bunny, have students:

1. Glue their white doily to the blue paper.2. Each cut out a white circle, and then glue it to the middle of the doily. 3. Each cut out the pink circles, and then glue them on as cheeks.4. Draw on the nose, eyes, and mouth using black markers. 5. Cut out the black rectangular whiskers and glue them on.6. Glue on the white ears, and then the pink ears on top of the white ones

(already pre-cut). 7. Have students write their names on the back.

2. Señora Teneda: Little Lamb Art & Printing “_____ had a little lamb, Whos fleece was ______ as ________.”Sophia will lead this craft and printing Center, where students make their own baby lamb and write a sentence about it. Students will practice their fine-motor skills in cutting the brown legs/body/head and also in using their pencils to write. They will need to apply the song Mary Had a Little Lamb into their own context using their own names and think of something in their world that is the same colour as the fleece they chose. The basis of this activity is that students understand that a lamb is a baby sheep and that they use their fine motor skills. Materials:

3. Señorita Neumann: Introducing 3D ShapesThe focus of my center will be to introduce concept and language of 3D shapes, transitioning from simply 2D shapes. I will be meeting the GLO Describe the characteristics of 3D objects and 2D shapes and analyze the relationships among them as well as the SLO Sort 3D objects using a single attribute. To begin the lesson, I will take the students out into the hallway to review 2D shapes, emphasizing their flatness and the fact they only go two directions (length and width). I will show students colour shape cards of 2D objects as well as 2D shape manipulatives, and together we will discuss the shapes and characteristics in Spanish (math is always in Spanish). After we have reviewed 2D shapes, I will introduce the concept of 3D shapes by asking if any students have ever gone to a 3D movie. They will probably share their stories and experiences of 3D movies, and afterwards, I will show them the 3D dinosaur book, allowing each student take a turn and see what happens when they look at it with their 3D glasses. After this, we will discuss how the picture “pops” off the page, and that that is what makes it 3D. It jumps out at you and has depth, it comes forward out of the picture. Then I will show the students my bucket of 3D shape examples: cones, cubes, spheres, etc. Each student will have a chance to touch each object, and we will talk about each one’s qualities: their roundness, curviness, flatness. I will ask students questions like, “Where do you think you would see a sphere in real life? Where wouldn’t you see a sphere?”The last part of my center will be using playdough back in the classroom, where students will have a hands-on opportunity to make their own 3D objects. We will practice making 3D objects that are round (How do we make something curvy?) and that are flat (How do we make something that is flat?) etc. There will be no accompanying worksheet with this, as the main goal for kindergarten is to give students the language to talk about 3D shapes. They will instead practice talking about 3D shapes, gain a greater grasp of the concept, and use hands-on play to really interact with it. Plan for Thursday, March 29: Easter Party Day
