FS1 Week 6 Parent Plan Nursery Rhymes: Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star Sun day 26 th Sunday Optional Activity: Create a Ramadan Kindness chart: If you’d like to enjoy an extra activity, you could visit the weebly website and print out your own Ramadan kindness calendar! There is 1 kind deed to complete each day. Once you have completed the deed, you can stick it onto your calendar. You don’t have to complete every deed, and some of them may be a little tricky to complete, but I wonder how many you can complete… Keep your calendar in a safe place and show me how many you have completed at the end of Ramadan! Literacy: Listening, Reading Learning Objective: Recognises rhythm in spoken words. Today we are going to be learning about one of our favourite Nursery Rhymes. Can we sing this rhyme together? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCjJyiqpAuU The children will be clapping out the different parts of words in the Nursery Rhyme. Listen to Twin-kle (clap with each syllable). How many times should we clap? That’s right. We clapped 2 times. The word twinkle has 2 parts. Twin-kle (clap). Li-ttle (clap) clap 2 times. The word little has 2 parts. Li-ttle (clap). Star(clap) clap 1 time. The word star only has 1 part. Star (clap). We are learning to listen to how many small parts are in words. We learned this by clapping. Can you practise this at home? What about your name? My name is Aishah I am going to clap the parts of my name Ai-shah. Can you clap the parts of the names of the people in your family? Send a video of you showing me this on dojos so I can see how well you are learning! Mon day 27 th Monday Optional Activity: Create a Ramadan Moon and Star decoration: If you’d like to enjoy an extra activity, you can use a paper plate, some ribbon to create a moon and star for Ramadan. What shapes do you see? I can see a moon and a star. We will need to cut out our shapes. Do you remember what we use for cutting? That’s right, we use scissors for cutting! You could use any of your favourite pens, pencils, paints, and colours to decorate your moon and star. You might even practise your patterns on it. You could hang this up in your home to make it look beautiful for Ramadan! There are instructions for how to make this on the Weebly website if you need some help. Maths: Number Understanding Learning Objective: Children are using some number names accurately when counting. Today is Monday. Yesterday, we started learning about one of our favourite Nursery Rhymes. We have been learning about Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star. Can we sing this rhyme together? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCjJyiqpAuU The children will be learning to count the stars that they can see. The children need to count the stars 1 by 1 and say the total number of the starsthey have counted. Send a video showing me your counting!

Tuesday Optional Activity: Practice pencil controlIf you’d like to enjoy an extra activity, you can practise your pencil control by following the lines to create different marks from the Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star rhyme. You can make curly shooting stars, zig zag diamonds and lots more!

Have a look at the weebly website to see which marks you could make.

Literacy: Listening, Reading Learning Objective: Recognises rhythm and rhyme in spoken words.Today is Tuesday.We have been learning about Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star. Can we sing this rhyme together?The children will listen for words that rhyme (sound the same) in the Twinkle Twinkle Little star song STAR/FAR, SKY/HIGH.Can you hear some rhyming words in some other songs? Can you find some rhyming objects in your house? You can find an activity worksheet to help you with this activity on the weebly website. Send a video or photo of your rhyming on dojos so I can see how well you are learning!

Wednesday 29th

Wednesday Optional Activity: Create a henna pattern:If you’d like to enjoy an extra activity today, you could create your own henna pattern. Some people like to decorate their hands with henna artwork to celebrate Ramadan.You could draw around your hands and make your own henna design. You might practise your patterns when you make your design.There are some examples on the weebly website if you’d like some ideas!

Maths: Number, Understanding Learning Objective: Children are using some number names accurately when countingIntroduction: Today is Wednesday T review previous learning: This week we have been learning about Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star. Can we sing this rhyme together? We also practiced our counting by counting some stars.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCjJyiqpAuUThe children will count how many squares and how many triangles . Can you put the shapes in a different arrangement and count them?

Assessment: Can you try this at home? Send me a video or photo of you carefully counting the shapes and post it in the ‘Maths Activity 29th April’ on the class dojo portfolio so I can see how well you are learning!

Thursday 30th

Wednesday Optional Activity: Create hand-print starsIf you’d like to enjoy an extra activity today, you could create your own handprint stars!All you’ll need is some paper, some paint and your hands.You could talk about what the paint feels like – slippery? Cold? Squishy? How does it look? Or you could make a star by drawing around your hand and someone elses hand in your family.There are some examples on the weebly website if you’d like some ideas!

Literacy: Listening, Reading Learning Objective: Joins in with repeated refrains and anticipates key events and phrases in rhymesIntroduction: Today is Thursday.We have been learning about Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star. Can we sing this rhyme together? Can you remember some of the words that rhyme in Twinkle Twinkle?

Something has happened to the Nursery Rhyme it has been mixed up. Children will be encouraged to put the pictures in the right order so that they can sing the song.

We are learning to order songs and rhymes and to remember what phrases come next. Maybe you could order this song and other rhymes too? You can find the pictures for this activity on the weebly website. Send a video or photo of you ordering songs and rhymes on dojos so I can see how well you are learning!
