Estimating activity Estimating is having a sensible guess at how many objects they are. Details of the estimating activity are below
Tip – if you use bigger objects to estimate this will be easier for your child. Smaller objects will be more challenging

Literacy-WritingReminder of the Whatever Next story https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6c5cb0u0rPM .Children can now complete the story plan sheet below-and draw pictures from the story-beginning, middle and end and then write their sentences next to them reminding children to use first, next, finally etc. For an extra challenge can your child change the ending to what they would like to happen? Maybe mother bear could join baby bear?
PSHEThis week is mental health awareness week and the theme this year is kindness!Discuss with your child kindness, what does it mean? Can you think of any examples? How do you feel when someone is kind to you or when you are kind to someone else? Can children do a random act of kindness today-help lay the table, mop the floor, clean their bedroom(!)draw a picture of it and write an explanation of what they did.

Art and DesignAfter designing their own planet this morning, it is time for children to make their own planet! This can be using junk modelling or drawing but if you have a balloon, newspaper, glue (or can make the paste using flour and water) then you could do some papier mache-ing at home! It is your planet so can look however you want it to (the instructions below are for actual planets but it can look however you want it to!) Enjoy!

Steps to follow:
1. First place objects into the containers
You could use any objects at home.
2. Adult to ask child to estimate (guess) how many objects are inside the container? Then write your estimate into the box
Child: I think they are 10 cubes in the cup. Your child will write number 10 into the box under your estimate your estimate (guess)
Step 2 : Then work out the accurate amount by counting the objects. (Write answer into box)
Actual amount
Step 3: Work out the difference between your estimate and
actual amount? Always put the biggest first in the number sentence 13- 10 = 3 The difference
Use the number line to help you
Wednesday activity- Find 4 containers that are different sizes. Then decide what objects you are going to use to estimate. Follow the steps above and complete the task. Tip – if you use bigger objects to estimate this will be easier for your child. Smaller objects will be more challenging Your estimate Actual amount Difference
