Lot number one: All aboard for the first bid

Just sail away, let yourself go… and launch this evening’s auction with your very best bids please for a great family fun experience.1

We have a voucher for a family of two adults and two children to take a river trip aboard the John Bunyan Community Boat on a Thursday or Sunday public cruise.

The community boat is operated entirely by trained volunteers under the command of a Boatmaster. Cruises start from three embarkation points in Bedford.

The voucher can be used until the end of next month (November 2016) and is worth about £35.

Lot number two: Your day in paradise

We are delighted that Center Parcs Woburn is supporting this evening’s event.

For our next lot we have a Center Parcs Woburn Forest Day Pass that entitles you along with four guests (five people in one car) to visit Center Parcs Woburn for a day with complimentary access to the village and use of its subtropical swimming paradise.

Decide on a date that most suits you, your family or friends and your booking will be confirmed.

The voucher would normally cost £150 but tonight it’s on offer to the highest bidder!

Lot number three: Get ready for golf

We know that you golfing fanatics are anxiously waiting for the first of our three golfing lots this evening – so we don’t want to keep you on tenterhooks any longer.

Get ready – we’d hate you to miss this opportunity to bid for a midweek round of golf on the South Beds Golf Club’s Warden Hill 9-hole course – not just for one person, not just for two people… but for four people. Not just one hole, not just two (ok, we’ll put you out of your misery) it’s for 18 holes and this lot is worth at least £40.

All you have to do is call the club’s pro before the day you and your friends wish to play to confirm availability – on any midweek date up to the end of August next year (2017). What a treat!

Lot number four: Your very own one-to-one with local MP

Here’s your chance to take tea or a light lunch with one of our local members of parliament for Bedfordshire.

Andrew Selous, Conservative MP for South-West Bedfordshire, is inviting two people – the winning bidder and a colleague, a friend or partner – to tour the House of Commons with one of the House of Commons’ professional guides on a mutually convenient date then take tea or lunch with Andrew Selous MP himself.

Lot number five: All set for the Big Day

Do you have a family member, or someone you know, who’s set a date for their wedding? They’ll be delighted if your gift to them is a pre-wedding bridal package of treatments, worth £150, from 5th Avenue Spa, a top hair & beauty spa in Bedford town centre.

The spa’s ‘bridal experience’ includes a ‘hair-up and make-up’ trial in advance, hair and make-up package on the wedding day, nails shaped and perfectly painted, and eyebrow shaping. Now for another round of golf at South Beds Gold Club, this time on the Warden Hill 9-hole course. This course is challenging and contains five par 4s and four par 3s. Six of the holes are from the original South Beds Golf Club course of 1892 and the 5th is the toughest of the whole 27 holes!

So… are you good enough, are you bold enough, to bid for our second voucher, worth at least £40, for a midweek round of golf on the Warden Hill course for four people over 18 holes?

Lot number seven: Take the drive of your life

If you haven’t bid yet… no doubt you’re waiting for one of our two amazing opportunities to experience an adventure you’ll never forget.

Twinwoods Adventure, nearby at Milton Ernest, have kindly donated not just one but two lots which tonight go the highest bidders.

The first lot, lot number seven, is for three people to race against each other in a simulated Formula One experience in the Race House. The offer is valid up to the end of July next year (2017). It’s exciting, thrilling, amazing – and afterwards you’ll be so popular with your teenage son or daughter, you just won’t believe it.

Lot number eight: Make a splash

Missed out on the last lot? You’ll have to bid a bit higher (remember it’s for a good cause) for a family surf session at the Twinwoods Adventure Flowrider. Lot number nine: Unwind over Sunday lunch

If all that excitement is a bit too much for you, why not take it easy, unwind and enjoy Sunday lunch for two at Galloway’s Restaurant, just outside the auction house in Woburn where we are holding our auction this evening.

The family-run restaurant was established in November 1995 and offers an a-la-carte menu which changes regularly with an emphasis on proudly created home-cooked food using only the finest quality fresh produce. Vegetarian and daily ‘Fish Specials’ are always available.

David Hay, the proprietor of Galloway’s Restaurant has kindly donated this lot and we are very grateful for his support. The winning bidder’s voucher, worth nearly £55, is for two people for Sunday lunch plus a glass each of Prosecco on arrival.

Lot number ten: Golf’s crème de la crème

And so to the crème de la crème of our golfing lots tonight.

All three golfing lots have been donated by South Beds Golf Club member and long-time Relate supporter Colin Chatwin, to whom we offer our sincere thanks.

Colin’s final lot for us this evening is worth at least £120 and entitles the winning bidder to a midweek round of golf on the club’s 18-hole Galley Hill Championship Course for four people.

Lot number eleven: Rise and shine

You’ll want to get going early for this one… breakfast with Relate Bedfordshire and Luton’s accountants, Keens Shay Keens, before taking a tour of Newmarket Racecourse. We’re grateful to Charles Little at Keens Shay Keens for providing the trip next April or May (2017) for two people. You will meet Charles in Bedford at 6.30am or if you live close he will collect you from home, and he will drive you to Newmarket, provide breakfast at 9.30am, then take you on a tour of the racing gallops, including a visit to the racing stables. You’ll return home for about 11am – so you can get back to bed and dream of racing the winning horse at the Grand National!

Lot number twelve: Chance for a change

As if you’re not beautiful enough already… Changes Hairdressing, Milton Keynes, are offering you a personalised Kerastase treatment and blow-dry, a voucher for a cut and finish, scalp and hair analysis, in-depth colour consultation, samples of ladies and gents Kerastase products… all in one prize package for lot number 12. 10

And finally. Ladies and gentlemen, we know you will have saved your biggest bid till last – so here’s a cracking finale to our auction this evening. The award-winning National Space Centre (www.spacecentre.co.uk) has more than 2,000 similar requests for support each year and they can only accommodate a limited number of applications from not-for-profit charities such as ourselves. But on this occasion, to support vulnerable children and young people across Bedfordshire, they have agreed to open their doors to two adults and two children for a very special visit valid until December 13th this year (2016). You won’t get another chance like this – so get ready for our final bidding to experience yet another wonderful opportunity this evening.
