Blog entry 6

Week 6 the last week before the performance we did tech runs and dress rehearsals. A tech run was where we test the lighting, music, sound effects and projections. This was very useful because I showed us that the music needed to be louder for ‘’Big Spender’’ we do these test so we don’t have problems on the performance night.

The first dress Rehearsal was Rebecca’s cast my first scene I play First guy the costume I wore for that was a light blue long sleeve shirt, blue jeans and my character shoes. The scene ran fine I now needed to run upstairs to the changing room and change in to my Herman costume I only have a few minutes to change I couldn’t do it in time and missed my que on stage. I could see that this was going to be a problem I was finding it really hard to run upstairs change and come back down ready for my que. To solve this problem I moved my changing area down stairs which was much easier I didn’t miss any of my ques and the whole team did a great show.

Another problem I faced was I couldn’t change quickly from Herman to First guy again to be on stage for the scene at the Y where I was supposed to flirt with the receptionist. After the Dress run I talked to Sarah and Judith and I ask if I could cut myself out of that scene which would mean I wouldn’t have to worry about changing and missing my que.

I found the Dress run really useful because it showed me how much time I have to quick change. Dress runs really help get into the role of the character because wearing the costume just put you in that mind set.

I also work on my marketing role this week we needed to find out who was coming and the capacity of the theatre. We had a problem with the email. The email wouldn’t open and didn’t show booking so I instead made a booking sheet and went around the class asking people how many they had coming and who they had coming for my night, Eugenia did hers for her night we got all the names written down and ready for the performance night
