CIVICO 103: ISSUE DEDICATED TO THE AUTUMN EXHIBITIONS FEATURING A NEW SHORT STORY BY ERMANNO CAVAZZONI ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------- The next issue of the magazine ‘civico 103’ will be published to coincide with the opening of the autumn exhibitions of the Galleria civica di Modena: “Gabriele Basilico nella collezione della Galleria civica di Modena” and “Macchine per abitare. Fotografie e disegni d’architettura dalla collezione della Galleria civica di Modena”, held respectively at the Palazzina dei Giardini and at Palazzo Santa Margherita, will be on show from this 23 rd November onwards. First of all, the exhibitions themselves: dancefloors and urban outskirts, glimpses of architecture and abandoned industrial areas in this narrative told through images – around 90 of them – of landscapes as examined by the well-known Milanese photographer Gabriele Basilico; drawings, architectural blueprints and photographs – a selection of some 100 works from the Gallery’s own collections – instead make up the exhibition itinerary of the show staged at Palazzo Santa Margherita. A rich selection of the iconography thus accompanies the discursive texts in the magazine by Silvia Ferrari, Francesca Mora, Piero Orlandi and Gabriella Roganti. This edition’s specially written short story, entitled “The Soul Garden”, is by the writer Ermanno Cavazzoni.

CIVICO 103: ISSUE DEDICATED TO THE AUTUMN EXHIBITIONS FEATURING A NEW SHORT STORY BY ERMANNO CAVAZZONI-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The next issue of the magazine ‘civico 103’ will be published to coincide with the opening of the autumn exhibitions of the Galleria civica di Modena: “Gabriele Basilico nella collezione della Galleria civica di Modena” and “Macchine per abitare. Fotografie e disegni d’architettura dalla collezione della Galleria civica di Modena”, held respectively at the Palazzina dei Giardini and at Palazzo Santa Margherita, will be on show from this 23rd November onwards.

There are two cameo sections: one dedicated to Cesare Leonardi and one to Tullio Zini, to whom two monographic rooms in the exhibition are dedicated. There is also a presentation of the Gallery’s diary dates, 8th and 12th December, held in collaboration with the Amici della Musica of Modena and the photographer Giancarlo Pradelli.

The déjà-vu section will be given over to the two appointments organised as part of the exhibition ‘All you need is Love. John Lennon artista, attore, performer’, which was on show until 3rd November in Palazzo Santa Margherita.

The issue closes with a comic strip as part of the ‘Gasp!’ section, edited by Stefano Ascari and Comicom.it, with a cartoon by Matteo Cuccato.

The paper version is published and distributed free of charge, and may be found in the exhibition venues of the Gallery, as well as in the libraries, cultural institutions, bookshops and at the main info points around the city. Published by Silvana Editoriale, it may also be found in the bookshops of the main contemporary art centres and museums throughout Italy.

The drawings on display include designs by the great architects of the 20th century such as Carlo Aymonino, Andrea Branzi, Guido Canella, Paolo Portoghesi and Aldo Rossi, along with figures of international standing from the Emilia region – Cesare Leonardi and Tullio Zini – to whom two special sections of the exhibition are dedicated. Leonardi is represented by a selection of seven sheets which the author will deposit in the Gallery collection, the terms and conditions of which are yet to be agreed with the Archive Superintendency of Emilia Romagna; a number of sheets by Zini (dating from 1973 to 2011) are also on show, recently donated to the Gallery.
