Article I: Membership
Section 1: Members of SGA
I. There shall be two types of voting members and one type of non-voting member. Students must be in good academic standing to be a member of the Student Government Association. The Student Government Association Advisor will determine eligibility and/or questions of eligibility. The following are the three tiers of members:
a. Executive Board. The Executive Board is comprised of one President and Vice President or two Co-Presidents, Treasurer, Parliamentarian, and a Secretary.
b. The House of Representatives. The House is the legislative body. The House of Representatives shall be comprised of twelve elected members, three members per grade.
c. Honorary Board. The Honorary Board shall be comprised of at least four members per grade, depending on the academic year and student body size. These are students that do not have voting power but are recognized as being a part of the Student Government Association.
II. Statement of Nondiscrimination: Membership in the Student Government Association shall be open to eligible students regardless of race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation or nationality.
Article II: Executive Board
Section 1: Executive Board Definition
I. The Executive Board of the FAU High School Student Government is a board that has the authority to make decisions and ensure that these decisions are carried out.
II. Each Executive Board Member shall be elected for a term length of one school year, provided his or her duties of office are performed.
Section 2: Positions within the Executive Board
I. The following are the five elected positions of the Executive Board:a. Student Body President b. Vice-President c. Treasurer d. Parliamentarian e. Secretary
II. In the event of an emergency, the position of Vice-President will be dissolved and will be replaced with a Co-President. The position of President will also be dissolved and will be replaced with a Co-President Position. Both Co-Presidents share the responsibilities under Article II, Section 3 of these bylaws.
Section 3: Responsibilities and Duties of the President
I. Be present at all Student Government Association meetings. II. Run the Student Government Association meetings with comity.
III. Represent the high school in the School Advisory Body.IV. Represent the high school at all Parent Teacher Organization meetings.V. Represent the high school in any other affiliate organizations in and out of school.
VI. Advocates for all students on campus and addresses all concerns and assigns tasks as needed to fulfill the goals of the organization.

VII. Is available to students for questions or concerns.VIII. Formally establish committees and delegate committee positions.
IX. Introduce articles of legislation for consideration to Student Government Association as a collective entity.
X. Interacts with administration and attends all Student Government Association sponsored social events as required.
XI. Explain and define changes that are being made in the Student Government Association to both Administration, members, and student body when necessary.
XII. Student Government Presidential Vetoa. The Student Government Association President holds the power of Veto. This means that
if a decision was put to a vote and passed, the Student Government Association President can veto the vote without any approval and without it being put to a vote. The Student Government Association President will only use the power of veto when he or she feels that the result will work in favor of the Student Government Association.
b. The Student Government Association President holds the power of Ruling. This means that if a decision that was put to a vote failed to pass, the Student Government Association President can implement the amendment without it being voted upon by any members of the Student Government Association. The Student Government Association President will only use the power of ruling when he or she feels that the result will work in favor of the Student Government Association.
Section 4: Responsibilities and Duties of the Vice President
I. Be present at all Student Government Association meetings. II. Assists the President with tasks concerning the Student Government Association.
III. Assume all duties of the President in his or her absence.IV. Advocates for all students.V. Organizes retreats for the Student Government Association.
VI. Guides and mentors the freshman class Grade Representatives and Honorary Members during their first semester in the Student Government Association.
VII. Work with committees to ensure proper protocol is being followed. VIII. Act as Public Relations Officer
a. Upholds the visual representation of the Student Government Associationb. Replies to advertising campaign proposals within one week of the start date of the
advertising campaign.c. Assumes control over an advertising campaign, in the event that an Advertising
Campaign Proposal is submitted incompletely, incorrectly, or not at all by the approved start date of the advertising campaign.
d. Is allowed to use his/her discretion when granting or denying an exception to the design standards.
e. Keeps a master calendar of advertising campaigns.f. Primary manager of all of the Student Government Association’s social media accounts.g. May appoint individuals to operate all of the Student Government Association’s social
media accounts.h. Is responsible for the printing and distribution of all flyers and posters.
Section 5: Responsibilities and Duties of the Treasurer
I. Be present during all Student Government Association meetings. II. Handles the exchange of money in and out of the Student Government Association bank account.

III. Works hand in hand with the ADHUS/FAUHS Treasurer and the Student Government Association Advisor in regards to the payment protocol for all events that require payments and credits.
IV. To keep an accurate balance of the Student Government Association account. V. To check in once every semester with administration and validate the funds in the Student
Government Association bank account. VI. Report the financial status of the Student Government Association account after each event is
held.VII. Hold any and all monetary funds made during or after any Student Government Association
event until deposited. VIII. Collect and review all budgets for events.
IX. Establish a payment protocol for all committees to abide by.
Section 6: Responsibilities and Duties of the Parliamentarian
I. Be present during all Student Government Association meetings. II. Runs all Student Government Association open and closed meetings according to Robert’s Rules
of Order.III. Responsible for issuing all written and verbal warnings to members with infractions.IV. To make sure that these bylaws are implemented at all times throughout the school year.V. To hold all votes made in the Student Government Association meeting.
VI. To make any amendments to the bylaws as needed.VII. To carry through the steps of impeachment if necessary.
VIII. Removal of disorderly attendees from meetings. IX. Keep accurate attendance of all members for each of the meetings as described in the meeting
article in these bylaws X. Keep the bylaws up to date and available to everyone in the Student Government Association.
XI. Maintain individual To-Do list and Committee notes
Section 7: Responsibilities and Duties of the Secretary
I. Be present at all Student Government Association meetings.II. Plan and prepare the business to be added in meeting agendas.
III. Send out all agendas to all members of the SGA 24 hours prior to the meeting day and time.IV. Records minutes for all Student Government Association meetings and makes them available to
all members of the Student Government Association. V. Keeps detailed records of all meetings on file
VI.VII. Maintains an up to date calendar of event dates and times.
VIII. Maintains the Student Government Association website up to date with all event announcementsIX. Maintain Master To-Do list
Article III: The House of Representatives
Section 1: Grade Representative Definition
I. The House of Representatives is comprised of Grade Representatives. Student Government Association Grade Representatives are elected or appointed students from each high school grade level. At the beginning of each year, each grade will be able to elect three elected officials.
II. Each Grade Representative shall be elected for a term length of one school year, provided his or her duties of office are performed. Grade Representatives may run for their position again the

following year, as long as they were not dismissed from the Student Government Association and continue to be in good academic standing.
Section 2: Duties and Responsibilities of Grade Representatives
I. To represent their grade to the best of their ability. II. Embodying interests, opinions, likes and dislikes, and ensuring that their respective grade is
represented fully at each Student Government meeting.III. Be present at all Student Government Association meetings. IV. Prioritize Student Government Association above over extracurricular clubs.V. Be their grades’ combined voice in ideas and voting decisions at all SGA meetings.
VI. Maintain high ethics and standards in and out of Student Government Association meetings. VII. Must receive at least two staffing credits for two different SGA events per semester.
VIII. Must help clean up after every SGA event that they attend, which does not count as a full staffing credit.
Section 3: Powers and Privileges of the House of Representatives
I. To review and repeal Executive Orders by a 4/5 majority.II. To override a Presidential Veto by a 2/3 majority.
III. To enact an amendment with a 1/2 majority.IV. To create, propose and enact all necessary bylaws.
Article IV: Honorary Board
Section 1: Honorary Member Definition
I. The Honorary Board is comprised of Honorary Members. Student Government Association Honorary Members are a body of non-elected members from all grade levels that work hand in hand with the elected officials of the Student Government Association. Non-elected positions may be created, dissolved or modified each year by the Student Government Association Executive Board, in consultation with the Student Government Association Advisor.
II. The Honorary Board shall be comprised of at least four members per grade, depending on the academic year and student body size.
Section 2: Duties and Responsibilities of Honorary Members
I. Honorary Members are expected to attend all Student Government Association meetings. II. Honorary Members are expected to morally support Student Government Association events and
activities. III. Honorary Members are expected to staff a certain number of Student Government Association
events per semester, determined by the Student Government Association Executive Board, in consultation with the Student Government Association Advisor at the beginning of each semester.
IV. Honorary Members are required to be a part of event planning committees.
Section 3: Powers and Privileges of Honorary Members
I. Honorary Members are allowed to participate in event committees after Executive and Legislative Members have joined.
II. Honorary Members are allowed to attend Student Government Association meetings.

III. Honorary Members are allowed to voice their opinions and/or concerns at delegated meeting times.
Section 4: Statement of Agreement
I. At the beginning of each school year, each Honorary Member will be required to fill out and return a copy of the Board Member Statement of Agreement document. This document can be found on the official Student Government Association website.
II. Until the Board Member Statement of Agreement is not returned, Honorary Members may not receive staffing credit, nor participate in any event planning committees.
Section 5: Eligibility
I. Prospective Honorary Members must complete an application that will be reviewed by the Student Government Association Executive Board, in consultation with the Student Government Association Advisor, in order to ensure fairness.
II. A select number of Honorary Members will be chosen based on merit, as determined by the Student Government Association Executive Board, in consultation with the Student Government Association Advisor.
Article V: Student Government Meetings
Section 1: Meetings
I. There will be a Student Government Association meetings every Friday during the academic year. Attendance at these meetings is mandatory to all members of the Student Government Association. Some meetings may be canceled if there is no new business or are other conflictions, as determined by the Executive Board and the Student Government Association Advisor, and will be announced at least twenty-four hours prior to the meeting.
II. There will be at least one Executive Board meeting every week during the academic school year. Attendance at these meetings is mandatory to all Executive Board Members. This number is subject to change at the beginning of each academic year. Some meetings may be cancelled if there is no new business or other conflicts, as determined by the Executive Board and the Student Government Association Advisor. These meetings may be rescheduled by the Executive Board and the Student Government Association Advisor.
III. All meetings require Henderson dress code attire, including long pants and appropriate shirts as determined at e-board discretion. Business casual attire for professional gatherings.
IV. Attendance is mandatory for all members of the Student Government Association. This includes Executive Board Members, Grade Representatives and Honorary Board Members. All members must be present on SGA meeting days.
V. All SGA members are required to come to all events sponsored and hosted by SGA. a. In addition to this, in order to maintain SGA membership, one must staff the majority of
the events held for each semester. Staffing an event includes assisting in set-up and clean-up.
b. If one cannot staff an event, he or she must email SGA with proper reason and documentation 48 hours prior to the event to determine if it will be excused.
c. In addition to this, one must wear their SGA shirt to events if declared by the Executive Board.
VI. Student Government MUST be the first priority among all other extracurricular clubs for all members.

Section 2: Absences
I. Executive Board Members, Grade Representatives and Honorary Board Members are allowed 3 unexcused absences throughout the duration of the entire academic year. The number of excused absences allowed will be determined by the Executive Board and the Student Government Association Advisor on an individual basis.
II. An unexcused absence is an absence the Student Government Association has not been notified through email before the absence has taken place, and has no official documentation or acceptable reason behind it.
III. All members of the Student Government Association are allowed to petition an absence within two weeks of the meeting in which the alleged absence has taken place. After two weeks, that absent will remain permanent, whether accurate or not. It is the member’s responsibility to check the updated attendance sheet on the SGA Google Drive and keep track of their absences.
IV. If a member of SGA arrives more than 10 minutes late to a meeting, he or she will be marked as tardy at the Parliamentarian’s discretion.
a. If a member has two tardies, that will count as an unexcused absence unless the tardy is excused
b. If a member does not stay for the majority of the meeting, then it will count as an absence based on Parliamentarian’s discretion.
Section 3: Excused Absences
I. An excused absence is defined as an absence in which the absentee has given SGA a notice via email in a timely manner before the absence has taken place. The following are some excused absences recognized by the FAU High School Student Government Association:
a. Funeral b. Health Absence Ic. Religious Absence d. Sports Absence e. Family Emergencyf. SI Sessions
II. The following are examples of absences that would not be considered excused: a. Overbooking your schedule b. Forgetting exams or schedules c. Poor time management d. Not being preparede. Attendance to a party/festival/gathering f. Another club’s meetings
Section 4: Paperwork for Absences
I. The Parliamentarian is in charge of handing out all paperwork related to absences but must receive the signatures of the Parliamentarian and SGA Advisor to do so. Just as with Warnings in Article XVIII, the Secretary must make two copies of each Warning, or Dismissal. One copy must be kept in an appropriate SGA Binder, and another must be issued to the member. Both forms are expected to be completely and accurately filled out.
II. If a member has two unexcused absences, they will be issued a Warning to remind them that they have almost reached the maximum allowed in the bylaws.
III. If a member has three unexcused absences, they will be issued a Warning to let them know if they have one more unexcused absences, they will be dismissed from SGA. This Warning may count negatively against the member if they are involved in further transgressions in other areas.

IV. If a member has more than four unexcused absences, they will be issued a Dismissal, as they have exceeded the number of unexcused absences allowed in the bylaws and will be asked to leave SGA.
Section 5: Open Door Policy
I. Students of FAU High School who are not Executive, Legislative, or Honorary Members of SGA are allowed to sit in Honorary Meetings only.
II. These non-members must sit in a designated portion of the room and may not interact with members while they are engaged in committee planning activities.
III. If non-members become disruptive, the SGA Advisor or Parliamentarian has the grounds to remove that individual from the meeting and prevent them from sitting in on future meetings if the disruption was excessive.
Article VI: Executive Board Elections
Section 1: Executive Board Elections
I. Timeline a. Student Government Association elections for the Executive Board will be held annually
anywhere between two to five weeks before the academic year ends.b. The current Grade Representatives and Executive Board will set the date.c. The selected date must be announced at least three weeks prior to elections.
II. Eligible Positionsa. President b. Vice President c. Treasurer d. Parliamentarian e. Secretary
III. In the case that the Student Government needs extra support, a Co-Presidency will be allowed at the discretion of the Student Government Association Advisor and a vote from the current Grade Representatives and Executive Board. In the case of a Co-Presidency, the new Co-President will take the position of the Vice-President.
Section 2: Presidential Candidate Eligibility
I. In order to be considered a candidate for the Student Government Association President position you must fulfill the following requirements:
a. Two years of prior Student Government Association experience.b. In order to be a presidential candidate, you must have served as a member of the Student
Government Association for the entire year prior to the year in which you would serve as President.
c. Be in good academic standing at the university.
Section 3: Vice President Eligibility
I. In order to be considered a candidate for the Student Government Association Vice President position you must fulfill the following requirements:
a. One year of prior Student Government Association experience. b. Be in good academic standing at the university.

Section 4: Treasurer Eligibility
I. In order to be considered a candidate for the Student Government Association Treasurer position you must fulfill the following requirements:
a. One year of prior Student Government Association experience. b. Be in good academic standing at the university.
Section 5: Parliamentarian Eligibility
I. In order to be considered a candidate for the Student Government Association Parliamentarian position you must fulfill the following requirements:
a. One year of prior Student Government Association experience. b. Be in good academic standing at the university.
Section 6: Secretary Eligibility
I. In order to be considered a candidate for the Student Government Association Secretary position you must fulfill the following requirements:
a. One year of prior Student Government Association experience. b. Be in good academic standing at the university.
Section 7: The Election Commission
I. In order to preserve fairness and candor, the Election Commission will be assigned in order to carry out a proper election process. The Election Commission will ensure a fair and constitutional election process.
II. The Election Commission will be in charge of implementing an application and voting process that they see fit in order to elect the Executive Board Members for the following academic year.
III. In order to ensure fairness, the Election Commission will be composed of elected, graduating seniors.
IV. The guidelines to elections will be posted at least one month in advance.V. In the case of a tie, a revote will be held between the two candidates between whom the tie
occurred.
Article VII: The House of Representative Elections
Section 1: The House of Representative Elections
I. House elections will be held every year before the end of the college semester. Current freshmen, sophomores and juniors will be able to elect three students to be their Grade Representatives for the following school year.
II. Eligible Positions a. Freshman Grade Representative b. Sophomore Grade Representativec. Junior Grade Representatived. Senior Grade Representative
Section 2: The House of Representative Eligibility

I. Every student is eligible to run for his or her respective grade’s representative. Each student is required to go through the application process decided upon by the Election Commission and be in good academic standing.
Section 3: The Election Commission
I. In order to preserve fairness and candor, the Election Commission will be assigned in order to carry out a proper election process. The Election Commission will ensure a fair and constitutional election process.
II. The Election Commission will be in charge of implementing an application and voting process that they see fit in order to elect the Grade Representatives for the following academic year.
III. In order to ensure fairness, the Election Commission will be composed of elected, graduating seniors.
IV. The guidelines to elections will be posted at least one month in advance.V. In the case of a tie, a revote will be held between the two candidates between whom the tie
occurred.
Article VIII: Voting Eligibility and Jurisdiction
Section 1: Voting Practices
I. The Legislative Board votes on the majority of issues, including but not limited to: enacting new amendments, overriding a presidential veto, repealing an executive order, impeaching an Executive Board Member or Grade Representative, reassigning a committee chair or overruling committee decisions, and other matters deemed necessary by the Student Government Association Advisor. All other general matters, such as dates or ideas, will be voted on either by all members of the Student Government Association or within individual committees.
II. To hold a general vote, whoever is present shall vote, and the vote does not need to be announced ahead of time.
III. To hold an Executive Board and House of Representatives vote, a quorum must be reached to be officially binding.
a. A quorum consists of 2/3 of Grade Representatives from each grade, and 3/5 of the Executive Board.
b. A quorum refers to the presence of Executive Board Members and Grade Representatives at the meetings, not their knowledge on the issues to be voted on.
i. If an Executive Board Member or Grade Representative attends a meeting with no knowledge of the vote they are about to partake in, their presence will be counted towards a quorum, however, they will receive a warning.
c. If a quorum is not met, the vote will be tabled until the next meeting. If a quorum is not met at the consecutive meeting, the vote may be cast and will be officially binding.
IV. To hold an Executive Board and House of Representatives vote, the vote must be announced beforehand and be recorded in the Meeting Agenda sent before the meeting.
V. If an Executive Board Member and/or a Grade Representative will not be present, they must fill out a Proxy Form.
a. Filling out a Proxy Form counts towards a quorum.b. Failing to do so results in a warning even if their absence has been excused.
Section 2: Jurisdiction and Eligibility of the President/ Co-President
I. The President or Co-Presidents of the Student Government Association retain(s) the power to break ties in the case that a vote has resulted in a tie. The President of the Student Government

Association or the Co-Presidents of the Student Government Association also have the eligibility to vote on some matters that do not involve their executive vote to break a tie. The following list outlines the president’s or co-presidents’ jurisdiction for voting:
a. The president/co-presidents is/are not allowed to vote to pass an amendment unless a tie has occurred.
b. The president/co-presidents is/are not allowed to vote to remove a Grade Representative unless a tie has occurred.
c. The president/co-presidents is/are not allowed to vote for an amendment that he/she has proposed.
II. The following are situations in which the President or Co-Presidents is/are allowed to vote:a. The president/co-presidents is/are allowed to vote in order to break any ties that have
occurred.b. The president/co-presidents is/are allowed to vote to decide small details regarding
committee planning such as times, dates, venues, committee section, etc. c. The president/co-presidents is/are allowed to vote for the removal of an Executive Board
Member.d. The president/co-presidents is/are allowed to vote for changes in the Student Government
Association meeting times and dates.
Section 3: Jurisdiction and Eligibility of the Secretary
I. The Secretary retains the right to vote during all voting sessions. II. The only time in which the Secretary is restricted from voting is if he/she has proposed an
amendment to be voted on, in this case, the secretary is not allowed to cast his/her vote.
Section 4: Jurisdiction and Eligibility of the Treasurer
I. The Treasurer retains the right to vote during all voting sessions. II. The only time in which the Treasurer is restricted from voting is if he/she has proposed an
amendment to be voted on, in this case, the treasurer is not allowed to cast his/her vote.
Section 5: Jurisdiction and Eligibility of the Parliamentarian
I. The Parliamentarian retains the right to vote during all voting sessions. II. The only time in which the Parliamentarian is restricted from voting is if he/she has proposed an
amendment to be voted on, in this case, the parliamentarian is not allowed to cast his/her vote.
Section 6: Jurisdiction and Eligibility of the House of Representatives
I. The House is composed of elected officials, Grade Representatives, from each of the grade levels. Every member of the House retains the right to vote during all voting sessions.
II. In the case that a House Representative decided to bring forward an amendment to the Parliamentarian, and this amendment goes to a vote, the member or members of the House who proposed the amendment still retain(s) the right to vote for the amendment.
Section 7: Jurisdiction and Eligibility of Honorary Members
I. Honorary Members do not retain any right to vote during Student Government Association meetings.

II. Honorary Members do, however, have the right to request time to discuss a voting subject with their respective Grade Representative. If an Honorary Board Member does request this time, one minute will be allotted for discussion between the Grade Representatives and the Honorary Board.
Section 8: Student Government Association Advisor Veto
I. The Student Government Association Advisor retains the power of ultimate veto II. The Student Government Association Advisor shares his/her ultimate veto power with the
ADHUS/FAUHS Principal.III. If the Student Government Association Advisor observes that something is not working in favor of
the Student Government Association, (s)he retains the right to bypass the Executive Board and the House of Representatives and veto or change the matter of concern.
Article X: Committees
Section 1: Committee Definition
I. A group of people appointed for a specific function, consisting of members of the Student Government Association. Committees will be formed in order to organize, maintain, run and plan events affiliated with the Student Government Association.
II. There will always be a committee for each event that the Student Government Association partakes in or plans.
Section 2: Composition of a Committee
I. There will be two chairs for each committee. The role of the chair is to help facilitate the activity that occurs within the event planning. Only Executive Board Members or Grade Representatives are allowed to chair a committee.
II. Chairs-in-training may be appointed for some or all committees, as deemed fit by the Executive Board.
III. There will be members in each committee. The number of committee members for each committee will be decided by the Executive Board and the Student Government Association Advisor.
Section 3: Responsibilities of a Committee
I. Each committee will either be a legacy committee established at the beginning of each school year or a new committee idea presented by a member of the Student Government Association. If the committee is brand new, an Event Proposal Presentation in front of the Student Government Association is required and will be voted on first by the Executive Board and the Student Government Association Advisor, and then encompass the rest of the members’ votes if passed.
II. If a committee needs funds for the event, it is required that the committee present a budget to the President(s) and Treasurer one month prior to the event date. The Treasurer and the Student Government Association Advisor will set a cap on how much money each committee can spend, and set a due date for the Budget and Invoices to be turned in. If the committee fails to turn those in on time, the event will be canceled.
III. Other deadlines will be negotiated between Committee Chairs and the Executive Board. If these deadlines are failed to meet due to lack of initiative, the event will be subject to review, and the Executive Board has the authority to cancel the event. Additionally, the Committee Chairs may receive warnings, at the discretion of the Parliamentarian.

a. Committee Chairs are in charge of handling the to-do list and delegating committee tasks.IV. Each committee is responsible for giving weekly updates to the Vice President of any progress
made within the committee. If the Committee Chair fails to keep in contact and act responsibly, the Chair may be subject to repeal, or the Committee to an overall cancellation.
Article XI: Resignation Section 1: Resignation Definition
I. Resignation is defined as the act of retiring or giving up a position. Any member may resign by filing a written resignation with the Parliamentarian and also meeting with the Student Government Association Advisor.
Section 2: Resignation Notice
I. The Student Government Association requires that all elected officials give a minimum of two weeks notice prior to resignation in order to arrange the newly elected official.
Section 3: Securing Duties Prior to Resignation
I. If a member is resigning from his or her position and said member is also involved in planning or organizing an event, said member is required to give at least one month notice to the committee and to the Secretary so that proper adjustments and transitions can be made.
Section 4: Resignation of the President
I. If the president is to resign his or her position, the president must give a resignation address to the entire Student Government Association. The Vice President will assume Presidency and other accommodations will be made to fill vacant seats.
Section 5: Resignation of a Co-President
I. If the Co-President is to resign his or her position, the Co-President must give a resignation address to the entire Student Government Association. The Co-President will recommend nominations for the Co-President position and ultimately the Student Government Association Advisor will determine if the nominee is eligible to take the position. The Student Government Association Advisor may ask for input from the Executive Board to make his or her decision.

I. If a member of the Legislative Board wishes to resign their position, it is not required of them to give a resignation address to the entire Student Government Association, but they may if they wish. The member resigning will recommend at least one candidate to fulfill her position and ultimately the Student Government Association Advisor will determine if the nominee is eligible to take the position. The Student Government Association Advisor may ask for input from the Executive Board to make his or her decision.
Article XII: Impeachment
Section 1: Officers may be impeached and, if convicted, removed from office by a two-thirds majority of the voting members on the basis of not fulfilling their duties as outlined in the bylaws.
Section 2: Members may be impeached and, if convicted, may be expelled from membership by a two-thirds majority of the voting members on the basis of not fulfilling the purpose of the organization.
Section 3: Any individual who is impeached shall be given full notice of the allegations against him/her and shall have an opportunity to respond to them.
Section 4: Any member, elected or honorary, of the organization, may initiate impeachment proceedings.
Amendment XIII: Executive Power
Section 1: Executive Power
Executive Powers are privileges that are given to the Executive Board of the Student Government Association. A single member of the Executive Board can never exercise Executive Power; a majority must be reached prior to the use of any of the Executive Powers described in this article. The following are the Executive Powers;
I. Nominations for Executive Board: In the case that an Executive Board Member should be impeached or has resigned, the Executive Board can nominate a minimum of one nominee for the Executive Board position. The nomination will be based on performance, Student Government Association involvement and conduct.
II. Executive Orders: In the case of an emergency, the Executive Board can override the Legislative Board and finalize a vote made among the Executive Board.
Section 2: Executive Orders
I. In order for an Executive Order to be made, permission from the Student Government Association Advisor must first be given to the Board.
II. If permission has been granted to the Executive Board then four out of the five Executive Board Members must agree that the decision/amendment, is in fact, an emergency and requires immediate attention. If a 4/5 vote is reached, then the matter will be addressed. If a 4/5 vote is not reached, then the matter is disregarded.
III. The executive board may amend the text of any warning drafted by the Parliamentarian, so long as three of the five executive board members vote in favor of the amendment.
Section 3: Appeal of an Executive Order
I. Executive Orders that lead to an amendment of the Student Government Association bylaws can be appealed by the Legislative Board if a 4/5 vote is in favor of the appeal. If the vote fails to

receive the 4/5 vote necessary for the appeal, then the amendment will hold and no further appeals can be made to the amendment.
Article XIV: Honor Cords
Section 1: Applying for Honor Chord
I. In order to apply for an SGA senior honor cord, one must be involved in SGA for a minimum of two years including senior year. In addition to this, one must fill out the given application in order to apply. Honor cords will be granted based upon attendance, participation, and dedication to SGA.
Article XIV: Advertising and Branding of FAUHS Student Government Association
Section 1: Design Standards
I. Details concerning components of ads such as resolution and font size may be subject to change as necessary without the need for a legislative vote.
II. Branding of the Student Government Association and FAUHS a. The organization name, Student Government Association, must appear in full before the
acronym, SGA, can be used. b. All event posters must be placed on the Official Letterhead, which can be found in the
Student Government Association websitec. The image size for posters being placed onto the letterhead must be 444x490 (this is
subject to change under Section A).d. The FAU Logo or any official use of FAU’s branding may not appear on any
promotional materials without prior written approval from FAU’s branding office. Examples of promotional materials may include but are not limited to: printed flyers, emails, social media advertisements, T-shirts, and event programs. No changes may be made to a promotional material containing the FAU branding between its approval by the branding office and the campaign start.
III. The Appearance of Text on flyers for Formal Events a. White text may never appear on a black background.b. Featured text, which is defined as the most prominent pieces of information on a poster,
may appear in any font or size.c. Body text can appear in any font or size.
IV. The Appearance of Text on Flyers for Non-Formal Eventsa. White text may never appear on a black background.b. Featured text, which is defined as the most prominent pieces of information on a poster,
may appear in any font or size.c. Body text may only appear in the font Lato (Subject to change under Section A).d. Body text may only appear in the following size range 18 to 21px (subject to change
under Section A).V. Exceptions to the Design Standards
a. An advertising campaign may apply for an exception to the design standards at the discretion of the Vice President, who acts as Head of Advertising and Social Media.
b. Exceptions may only be requested with an Advertising Campaign Proposal and when proper justification for the exception is submitted to The Head of Advertising and Social Media

a. The design standards used for flyers apply to social media posts, with the exception of image size.
b. Instagram posts must be square sized. Pictures on Facebook or Twitter may be any size.VII. Advertising Campaign Rules
a. All committees and individuals planning advertising campaigns must submit an initial “Advertising Campaign Proposal Form” at least two weeks before the campaign start date.
b. Advertising Campaign Proposals must be submitted to the Vice President via email with all materials attached
c. The Vice President reserves the right to edit or amend the Advertising Proposal form as he or she sees fit.
d. All committees and individuals planning advertising campaigns must submit an initial “Advertising Campaign Proposal” at least two weeks before the campaign start date.
e. Advertising Campaign Proposals must be submitted to the Vice President via email with all documents attached.
Article XVI: Student Government Association Advisor
The Student Government Association Advisor is an appointed Student Government Association Director and is essential to the proper functioning of the Student Government Association. The Student Government Association Advisor shall advise the Student Government Association on matters relating to operations and governance of the Student Government Association.
Section 1: Responsibilities of the Student Government Association Advisor
I. Ensure the wellbeing and proper maintenance of the Student Government Association.II. The Student Government Association Advisor is responsible for being the main communication
between the Student Government Association members and the administration of FAU High School.
III. The Student Government Association Advisor will work alongside the Parliamentarian in making sure that the implementation of the bylaws is done fairly and properly.
IV. The Student Government Association Advisor will help to ensure unity among the members of the Student Government Association and the Student Body.
V. The Student Government Association Advisor will advise the members on procedure and protocol of Student Government Association events, trips, dances, etc.
Section 2: Student Government Association Advisor Ultimate Ruling and Veto
I. The Student Government Association Advisor holds the power of Ultimate Veto. This means that if a decision was put to a vote and passed, the Student Government Association Advisor can veto the vote without any approval and without it being put to a vote. The Student Government Association Advisor will only use the power of ultimate veto when he or she feels that the result will work in favor of the Student Government Association.
II. The Student Government Association Advisor holds the power of Ultimate Ruling. This means that if a decision that was put to a vote failed to pass, the Student Government Association Advisor can implement the amendment without it being voted upon by any members of the Student Government Association. The Student Government Association Advisor will only use the power of ultimate ruling when he or she feels that the result will work in favor of the Student Government Association.

Article XVII: Student Government Members Code of Conduct
Section 1: A.D. Henderson School/ FAU High School Student Code of Conduct
I. The FAU High School Student Government Association strives to maintain an excellent presence in our school and in our community. The Student Code of Conduct presented by FAU High School is fully supported by this Student Government Association and each member is to abide by this Student Code of Conduct. Failure to do so will result in a written warning and if the act is serious enough a request will be processed for impeachment.

Section 2: Student Government Association Code of Conduct
I. Campaign sabotage will not be tolerated in the slightest and will result in the removal of the candidate not only from the race but also from the Student Government Association for the current and upcoming academic year.
II. In addition to following FAU High School’s Student Code of Conduct, all members of SGA are expected to upkeep the good name of SGA. Members should not engage in disrespectful conversations or make disrespectful comments towards SGA, SGA events, SGA elections, or SGA members. This includes conversations and comments in real life, via email, via text messages, and through social media. Failure to comply with this will result in a warning, and possible impeachment or dismissal depending on the severity of the violation and number of offenses.
a. The administration will determine the severity of the incident.
Article XVIII: Amendments
These bylaws may be amended by a majority vote from both the Legislative Board and Executive Board of the Student Government Association. The Executive Board may also amend these bylaws with the Executive Power.
Section 1: Proposed Amendments
I. Bylaws will be voted on in accordance with the Voting Article found in these bylaws.II. Proposed amendments must be sent out by the Student Government Association 48 hours prior to
the vote, in order for the vote to be held at the meeting.
Section 2: Grammatical and Structural Changes
I. The Executive Board retains the right to make any grammatical and structural changes, as long as this does not alter the interpretation of the bylaws.
II. If the bylaws require clarification, this will be treated as an amendment and therefore will need to be put to a vote within the elected body.
Article XIX: Procedure for Warnings and Complaints
Section 1: Documentation

I. All warnings and complaints must have two copies made, one for the Executive Board to be in possession of, and one for the person whom it was issued to. Both copies must be signed completely.
Section 2: Complaints
I. Any member of the Student Government Association is allowed to fill out a complaint form about another member if they are acting irresponsibly, disruptively, disrespectfully, destructively, vindictively, etc.
II. If the Parliamentarian witnesses any of the above behavior, they are allowed to write up a warning. However, if the Parliamentarian has a personal issue with the offender, they must write a complaint form, which will be evaluated by the President and the Student Government Association Advisor.
III. Complaints are to be turned into the Parliamentarian. At their discretion, they evaluate whether the complaint has valid grounds to transcend into a warning geared to that person. If a Parliamentarian decides the complaint is not worthy to turn into a warning, it should be filed and later used as evidence for future disciplinary outcomes.
Section 3: Warnings
I. Only the Parliamentarian is allowed to issue warnings.II. The following behavior can result in having a warning issued:
a. Disruptive behavior during multiple meetings.b. A Committee Chair reporting on members who are not fulfilling assigned tasks.c. When at least three committee members file a complaint about a Committee Chair is
acting irresponsibly.d. When the Vice President reports that a Committee Chair is being irresponsible.e. When Committees do not follow their assigned event calendars.f. Other instances which are deemed unacceptable by the Student Government Association
Advisor.
Article XX: Grounds for Member Dismissal Section 1: Dismissal Requirements
I. If a member has three warnings, whether honorary or elected, the member is to be dismissed from the Student Government Association. No impeachment procedures are necessary.
II. If a member has three unexcused absences and has been warned on either the first or second one, he or she will be dismissed from the Student Government Association.
III. Members who are dismissed from the Student Government Association are not allowed to join the organization the following year. The year after, however, they are allowed to re-join.
