You are being given a HUGE opportunity to sell one of your unique inventions (and business plan) to a group of Brownsburg’s top sharks. These sharks are here to find the top one, two, or three inventions that they believe could truly help them (and YOU) make money in the long run. If these top sharks find your invention and plan enticing, realistic, and profitable, they will choose to invest their own time in helping you become the successful entrepreneur that they believe you can be! This will mean big payoffs for you in the future! This business endeavor will take place during Friday’s SEEK time only and will last for the duration of the quarter, ending with you entering Brownsburg’s “Shark Tank” to sell your idea. There are no guarantees in this business challenge. The sharks may invest in one, two, or multiple ideas—not every student/group is guaranteed an offer from the sharks. The sharks also reserve the right to decide not to invest in any student/group idea. If one shark (or multiple sharks) decides to invest in your idea, than you will earn the right to spend additional time with this particular shark (or sharks) further developing your idea for the future. The shark (or sharks) will give you constructive feedback on your idea, toss additional ideas around, and give you multiple resources to further your education within the business field for future endeavors. You will also earn a reward basket for your AMAZING effort filled with cash (dawg bucks), candy, and items to help foster your creative mind and organize future business plans.

SEEK Shark Tank Business Invention Challenge (8 th )

Introduction:

Welcome to the Shark Tank!

You will also earn a reward basket for your

AMAZING effort filled with cash (dawg bucks), candy, and items to help foster your creative mind and organize future business plans.

If the sharks decide not to invest in your idea, this does not mean that you have failed the project nor does it mean that you have come up with an unworkable idea. If your idea is not selected, this means that you still have some reworking and finalizing to do in order to really elevate your plan. You may have an amazing start to an idea, but your idea may need to be tweaked, and fortunately, you will still receive constructive feedback.

General Guidelines:

1. You may work as an individual or in a partnership. (Keep in mind that all partnerships will be splitting rewards.) You may only work in a partnership with a parent/guardian consent form. All partnerships will be locked-in throughout the duration of the project AND all partners within partnerships will receive IDENTICAL grades. If you are successful, you are successful together! (And so on and so forth!)

2. You must pitch an original invention to the sharks. There are businesses that run off of services, and other non-tangible ideas, however, for this edition you will be required to create a 3D tangible prototype of your original invention (OR create artifacts to help explain your idea). Your original invention should be something

that cannot be found on the Internet under a different creator’s name. Your invention prototype may not include any type of food material and may not have any ingredients that “expire.”

3. You must also pitch a business plan to the sharks. *The details of your business plan are listed under the protocol.

4. You may only work on your Shark Tank assignments during SEEK time; however, you may possibly be given additional time other than your scheduled Friday time. Only the supervising teacher has the right to denote additional SEEK time. This also means that while you are allowed to gather materials for your invention outside of school time, you are NOT permitted to work on constructing your invention outside of SEEK time, nor are you allowed to work on any other physical part of the project outside of SEEK time (unless you have been given a specific note of approval from your supervising teacher.) Breaking your permitted time frame could result in disqualification from the Shark Tank. You ARE permitted to brainstorm and research ideas outside of normal SEEK time.

5. Unlike the television show, the Brownsburg sharks will announce which invention or inventions they decide to invest in AFTER all of the pitches have been made.
