Greet ngs from the 5 th Floor Volume Three ~ Issue 1 15 March 2013 That’s right! It’s that time again. The fifth grade at QISS has been working hard discovering the world of hydroponics and aquaponics. We are working hard to finalize all of the hard work and inquiry your child has done this trimester. The big event is next Friday, March 22 nd. See the back of this newsletter for the official invitation. Also, Ms. Ho and I will buy lunch for the kids that day (pizza and pop). If they’d like anything else to eat during lunch or are willing to bring in something to share, that would be great (fruit, chips, etc). Electronics in the Classroom: Recently, there has been an increase in students using their phones and /or other electronics without permission during class(es). Just a friendly reminder that electronics are not to be used in class without permission and that any messages that need to reach a student can be delivered to the classroom via the main office. This will help us to cut down on unnecessary distractions. Likewise, if students need to contact you for any reason, they can do this through the office as well. Thank you for your help with this issue. Planners: The planners are a convenient way for us to communicate with each other, as well as, keep you in the loop in regards to what is happening in the classroom each day. This is also a great habit for the kids to develop. It will help to keep them organized especially when they begin middle school next year. Where ever that may be. Snacks at School: For the most part kids are bringing healthy snacks … thank you. It certainly helps them to focus better until lunch. We have noticed that many kids do not bring water with them and we would like for them to be well hydrated. In fact, the brain works better when it’s properly hydrated (water is the best choice at school because should it spill there is no sugar or dyes to stain carpets, clothing, etc...) Students are welcome to bring a water bottle marked clearly with their name and grade and will be able to fill it up throughout the day.
