- Several pages containing Edmark words: BZ matches the Edmark word to the corresponding picture. In order for BZ to retain Edmark words he has learned, he needs to review them on a regular basis. By placing them in his morning work binder, BZ can review them independently on a daily basis. Because he matches the words to the pictures, teachers are able to check his work and identify words that may need more review than others. Currently, there are 4 pages each with 3 words for BZ to review. I switch the pages on a weekly basis so he can continue to review different words. Depending on time, BZ does not always get to all of the words in his binder, which is fine. All of the pages in BZ’s binder can be removed or altered as needed. As he begins to master his IEP goals, we will need to adjust this assignment accordingly. I created this binder and implemented it at the end of January, when I realized there had to be a more efficient way for BZ to complete his morning work binder. Before this binder, an adult had to be sitting with him and writing his responses for him. I realized that most of the tasks he was required to do were too difficult for him, and his peers were working independently, so BZ should be able to as well.

Using this binder, BZ is working independently on an assignment that is similar to his peers (so he doesn’t feel different) and he is also working towards goals that are specific to his needs and abilities.
