Job Description Job title Senior Manager, Strategy Team Strategy, Economics and Business Development Band 5 Reporting to Director, Strategy and Business Development Management responsibility None Purpose of the job As the Senior Manager, Strategy, reporting to the Director of Strategy, you will support the development of the overall business strategy of the British Business Bank and to develop new and existing financial products. Main duties Manage multiple strategy projects in varying stages of development for durations of 3 to 18 months, sometimes with responsibility for multiple workstreams within each Help translate Government policy priorities into a strategy for the Bank that fits the Bank’s remit and funding envelope, including; o Maintaining regular dialogue with policy officials in Government and working to incorporate that input into the Bank’s actions and plans o Managing an effective strategic planning process o Modelling financial performance for business plan Run horizon scanning projects to identify further opportunities for the Bank, by analysing market data, working with external parties and speaking to colleagues across the Bank and Government. On ad hoc basis, support delivery of new product propositions in collaboration with business development, functional and business unit colleagues, as well as external delivery partners General team based structured problem solving, presentation preparation in both Powerpoint and Word Internal / external stakeholder management Knowledge and experience Financial services or asset management experience with good understanding of how Financial Services balance sheet works, key Financial Services performance drivers, and demonstrated interest in and familiarity with broad Financial Services product set. Of particular value is interest and experience in products used by smaller businesses, and the structuring thereof. Relevant work experience from a strategy consulting firm, corporate strategy department of a Financial Services company or asset manager, or policy unit of public sector entity including familiarity with strategy development elements (e.g. hypothesis generation, economic analysis, fact gathering, options development and assessment) Ability to work across disciplines within the Bank and with external stakeholders. Ability to build productive working relationships quickly, and use these to manage projects or workstreams effectively. Pragmatism, numeracy, and commercial sense. Fluent in Powerpoint, Word and Excel.
