Pre-production work Ideas Our idea to create a Nintendo advert originated from us all liking Nintendo as a company, our idea is to create an advert for a Nintendo product and to make it appeal to everyone young and old, due to the company being well known as a family friendly company. We will make sure that no other products get showed as well as this advert is mainly meant to show of Nintendo products only, so we will have to be careful so that we only see Nintendo products. Pre-production research Why we asked these questions? We asked these questions so that we could see what people liked and dislike about adverts and to see what people think about Nintendo as a company so that we can see how many people like or dislike Nintendo. This will help us when we are creating our advert as we will know what our advert will need so that it is appealing to the audience. Questions we asked: 1) Style and themes 2) Do you like the Brand Nintendo 3) What makes adverts interesting to you? 4) What bothers you in adverts? 5) Have you seen a Nintendo advert? Results: We asked 23 people and these were the results from the questionnaire. Question 1) Comedy x9, funny x5, cute x1, content x1, educational x2, strong plot x1 and entertainment x4 Question 2) Yes x17 No x6 Question 3) Entertaining x13, Interesting x5, unique x5

SynopsisOur synopsis of our advert will be that a Teenager is in their room playing on a Nintendo console, they are also surrounded by other Nintendo products (amiibo’s etc.) in their room. They receive a text from their friend asking them to come to the beach to come and play some games with them. The first person quickly packs up and heads out, the first person then walks through some parts of town playing on the DS before reaching his friend at the beach (we have planned for a dog to be with the friend as well but is isn’t confirmed yet). They then play games together before the product is announced, then the advert ends.

We’ll have a wide shot from the start but well make it pan into an over-the-shoulder shot (making sure to show that the teenager is playing the DS).

Go back to a mid-shot and make the camera follow the teenager throughout the shot until he leaves the door and gets out of frame.

Shot listThe shots we will use in our advert will mainly be wide shots, we will also include a mixture of wide shots and a two-shot, we will also have a few mid-shots in this advert as well. We won’t be using any more so that we don’t over complicate any scenes and make it too difficult on ourselves. We will have made sure that these shots show what we are advertising so the viewer knows what it is about. These shots will help us get our point across, we will use these shots to show the product being in use and showing its portability as well, which is one of the main points of this advert.

Have the camera be at a wide shot with the teenager and follow him in the same style we will use for when the teenager is leaving his bedroom.

Have a mixture of both a wide shot and a two-shot so that we could see the teenager walk up to his friend and sit down next to him on the beach wall (Not the final choice for where they will meet on the beach).

Have another mixture of a close up shot and a two-shot of the two-people playing on Nintendo DS’s together with it cutting to the product after that.

Risk Assessment

Risk  Damage it could cause  How to avoid it Getting liquid spilt onto the camera

It could break the camera or cause the camera to short circuit which could result in injury as it could give the user an electric shock.

Make sure to keep the camera safely secured in its carry case and to make sure that the camera doesn’t go in contact with any liquid such as water.

One of us slipping on the slope down where we will be filming.

One of us could get hurt due to how steep the slope is.

We would need to be careful when going down the slope so that none of us fall over or slip due to the damp pavement and getting hurt in the process.

Dropping the camera while filming.

It could break the camera which means we won't be able to record

We would avoid it by being careful with the camera and making sure that the it is either in the carry case or with the camera strap securely on us.

Losing the camera  Forgetting about the camera and leaving it in an area where it could get stolen.

Making sure to keep the camera safe and in eye view so that we don't lose it or that it gets stolen.

Falling off a wall or high up If one of us were to fall it We would have to make sure

area where we will be filming  could cause an injury or if we landed in a bad spot, death.

not to take any risks that could lead to an injury or death.

Location Plan We plan to mainly use three locations, these areas include a bedroom, a street and the beach for our shots, we will plan to manipulate the footage to make some areas such as the street appear different, we will achieve this by changing the shots around to make the stage appear different. We will need to make sure that we don’t get anyone one in our shot who might be too young to be in our shot or people who don’t want to be in our shots as we won't be allowed to use that clip otherwise. We have to film the street and beach when the weather is good, as we won't be able to film when it is raining due to the chance of the electronics getting damaged and that we have to be outside to get these shots and we could have a problem if the weather starts to stay bad for the date we have set to film. We won't have to book space for these spaces but as mentioned previously we will have to be careful so that we don’t get anyone in the footage that will make it unusable as it could have someone who doesn’t want to be on camera, we could however blur them out, however it would break the look of the advert as it would stand out so it would be best to re-shoot a shot if something like this happened. Production equipmentWe used DSLR camera and we had Kacey and Robbie be the actors in the shoots while Kennan filmed the shots, we also used a 3DS in the shots as that is the product we are advertising for this Nintendo advert. We used a large amount of Nintendo props for the teenager’s room so that the viewers would instantly know what companies advert it is.Post production notesWe have had to cut out a few areas where we planned to have filmed, this mainly includes the high street as it was constantly busy and we didn’t want to get anyone in who shot who didn’t want to be in it, so we opted to film somewhere else that was close by but had less people in the area.We also planned to have a dog in the advert but we weren’t able to obtain it so we decided to just scrap the inclusion of the dog, as we able to get it when we were filming.I personally think that we should’ve managed time a bit better as we had to slightly rush near the end of our production, we luckily had nearly everything done but we should’ve managed the time so that something like this wouldn’t happen. One problem we also had was that the weather wasn’t any good to film in mainly for when we needed the beach shot, this is most likely the fact that we were filming in December, so the weather was never guaranteed to be good, we should have factored this in so we could of thought about alternatives if something like this was to happen.
