Primary 4 Miss Harrison April – June 2018 Numeracy and Maths Pupils will be working through a variety of topics including: division fractions money Pupils will investigate numbers in various ways including using numicon, active maths and interactive/mental games. Children will continue to use Sumdog in school and at home when they can. Health and Wellbeing Athletics (Indoor – Tuesday) Balls skills developed through Football (Outdoor- Wednesday) Room 8 will continue to take part in the ‘Daily Mile’. Children will learn how to keep themselves ‘healthy’. We will look at the five main food groups of the Eatwell plate and categorise the foods we eat. Children will also prepare a healthy snack as part of Homework Homework will consist of reading tasks relating to reading book, reading (daily, spelling/phonics tasks and maths (once a week). Literacy Children will: continue to work through spelling programme, using a variety of active spelling strategies to enhance learning continue to develop their handwriting skills use a variety of reading strategies to deepen their understanding participate in news round regularly and discuss world news Learning across the Curriculum Science Our science topic this term will be ‘The Human Body’. Children will learn about the different parts of the skeleton as well as our major organs. They will explore and describe their functions. RME Children will learn about ‘Buddhism’. They will explore the symbols and beliefs of Buddhism and will have the opportunity to participate in some meditation activities.
