Carn to Cove Autumn 2016 - Smoking Apples Press Release Carn to Cove is Cornwall’s rural touring scheme for performing arts, and presents a wide variety of professional touring artists in village halls throughout the county. On Saturday 22nd October @ 7:30pm, as part of the Newlyn Festival, they present a performance of a new play from a young company called Smoking Apples Theatre. Molly, Matt, Aimee and Hattie all studied at the Rose Bruford College, and also in Prague, where they developed a love of puppetry. Using visual theatre techniques, the company creates innovative shows, which combine puppets, live actors and an identifiable and unique style of movement. In Our Hands tells the story of Alf, a trawler fisherman whose experience, camaraderie and loyalty have put him and his boat at the top of the game. But times are changing and so is the industry. How will Alf adapt in order to survive? Follow a fish’s journey from sea to plate; watch a seagull’s ridiculous attempt to find food and witness a father and son reunite. In Our Hands will transport you out to sea, under the ocean and onto the deck of the Catcher’s Fortune. Using innovative puppetry, a striking set and an original score, join Alf as he journeys from the depths of despair to rise again and rescue the life he loves. The show is suitable for everyone aged 11+ and will be performed at The Centre Newlyn. Tickets can be bought in person at the
