In Isaiah the Servant-Messiah, humiliated and exalted, is lifted up on the cross for me and put to death, but then returns to life. 3. Punished and humiliated, mortally wounded in our place, but victorious. Suggestions for Teaching and Spiritual Objectives: Study in depth the theme of the cross, share our experience of the offer that Jesus has made for us. Possible Questions for Deeper Study, Sharing and Application: 1. What complex picture of the Messiah and suffering Servant have you gained this week? 2. What specific acts and suffering is the Messiah subjected to in the passage of Isaiah 52:13-53:12? What strikes you the most?
