Keywords: European red mite Panonychus ulmi and yellow mite Eotetranychus carpini borealis are the main mite pests of apples in Willamette Valley Oregon, others of less importance are two-spotted mite Tetranychus urticae, apple rust mite Aculus schlectendali, and the McDaniel mite Tetranychus mcdanieli, predatory mites are: Typhlodromus occidentalis (rarely seen) but T. arboreus is very common, population ecology of A. schlectendali, relation of this pest and the other minor mite pests and T. arboreus, population trend of P. ulmi, relationship of P. ulmi to other pest mites and T. arboreus, relationship of T. arboreus to other pest mites, in the absence of pesticides, T. arboreus was capable of increasing to very large numbers and kept phytophagous mites below threshold levels
