ITER Robots contest is open to junior high schools and secondary schools located in Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, as follows: 1) Junior high school students: ITER Robots can be held within their established technological school programmes (in 7th, 8th and 9th grade corresponding to 5 ème , 4 ème , 3 ème ) or within the newly established interdisciplinary educational programme (EPI project). 2) Secondary school students: it can be integrated to their first and final year of high school technological programmes (in Science, engineering or technology, S&STI2D). Four technical challenges, all combined to general knowledge questions, will be suggested: - 1. WAYS challenge is a speed race on several circuits; the speed and lines follow up will be the key performance level indicators. - 2. TRANSPORT challenge combines a mobility test including a back and forth rides on the circuit and a remote handling test to pick and drop-off several blocks (representing components) in the deposit zone. The aim is to transport the maximum number of blocks (up to 5 blocks). - 3. PICK AND PLACE challenge includes pick and place operations from point A to point B (on a dedicated area) using color recognition sensors in order to place the blocks on the corresponding color zones. - 4. CO OPERATE challenge combines Transport and Pick and place challenges. The aim for the robot is to follow the whole circuit and

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS 2018ITER ROBOTS 2018

Name of the school: ………………………… Name of the contact person: …………………… Phone : …………………….E-Mail…………………..

ITER Robots contest is open to junior high schools and secondary schools located in Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, as follows:1) Junior high school students: ITER Robots can be held within their established technological school programmes (in 7th, 8th and 9th grade corresponding to 5 ème, 4 ème, 3ème) or within the newly established interdisciplinary educational programme (EPI project). 2) Secondary school students: it can be integrated to their first and final year of high school technological programmes (in Science, engineering or technology, S&STI2D).

Four technical challenges, all combined to general knowledge questions, will be suggested:

The aim for the robot is to follow the whole circuit and to place the maximum number of blocks on their corresponding color zones. This challenge entails a perfect knowledge of robotics systems.

Organised by the Agence Iter France in partnership with Aix-Marseille academy, ITER Organization and CEA (IRFM), ITER ROBOTS aims to place ITER technical challenges into a broader educational and playful approach. Students are actively involved in project management which combines theoretical concepts covered during their school time and practical exercises through robots design, programming and testing activities.
