10. Additional transport option from the airport
If a student does not wish to be picked up, or decides to arrive/ depart to a different time then scheduled in the Trade Mission program, the student has the possibility to choose the following options:
a. Taxi
The most convenient way to get from the airport to the city is by taxi. There are two kinds of taxis: the more expensive limousine taxi and the public meter taxi. If you wish to take an airport limousine, check with the limousine counter inside the airport.
Traveling from Suvarnabhumi International Airport to the hotel
To travel from Suvarnabhumi International Airport to your hotel, use a metered taxi located outside the airport building one floor below the arrival hall. Follow signs for “Public Taxi”. There are kiosks which will issue a ticket with the number of the parking space where the taxi should be waiting. (Note: Sometimes the taxi may not be at the spot. Please wait until one shows up.) Tell the taxi driver your destination. You need to pay the expressway toll when you get to the toll gates (around Baht 80). The taxi fare to the hotel is around Baht 300, but you have to pay an additional service surcharge of Baht 50 on top of the price shown on the meter for taxis leaving the airport.
Traveling from Don Muang International Airport to the hotel
Taking a metered taxi is the most convenient ground transport option when getting to/from the airport. The taxi stand is located outside the Arrival Hall. Most destinations to downtown Bangkok cost around Baht 250. Add an additional Baht 50 surcharge to your fare when you pay the driver upon arrival at your destination. All tollway charges will be paid by the passenger at the toll gates.
b. Grab
Grab offers a convenient way to book your taxi ride or private driver. You can easily download the application on your phone and book your taxi ride or private car to your desired location. (Read more about Grab above!)
c. Train – Airport Link to/from Suvarnabhumi International Airport only
The Airport Link operates from 6.00 am to midnight daily. A single-trip journey costs between Baht 15 and 45 for the commuter service, depending on the stations where you ride/alight the train. The Suvarnabhumi Station is located under the main terminal building (B1 Level, two floors below the Arrival Hall). Depending on your destination, you will be able to receive the correct information for your route at the information counter or via your Google Maps app.

The basic monetary unit in Thailand is the Baht. A Baht is divided into 100 satang. The
following coins and notes are currently in use: One Euro is worth around THB 37,37 (as of 05 June 2018). Coins: 25 and 50 satang; 1, 5 and 10 Baht. Bank notes: THB 10 (brown), THB 20 (green), THB 50 (blue), THB 100 (red), THB 500 (purple)

leaving Thailand, they may freely take out all foreign exchange they have brought in. For residents, unlimited amounts of foreign notes and coins, but no more than EUR 20,000 in drafts or check, may be taken out for traveling expenses.
Foreign visitors may bring in an unlimited quantity of Thai currency. For travelers leaving Thailand, the maximum amount permitted to take out without prior authorization is THB 50,000 per person or, if they are going to one of Thailand's neighboring countries, THB 100,000 per person.

2. Measurement of AreaThailand has its own system of area measurement. The basic units are square wa (4 sq.m.) and rai (400 sq. wa or 1,600 sq.m. or 0.16 hectare).
3. Customs and traditions Generally Thai women are conservative. So, we strongly advise that you do not
touch them without their consent. Dress properly when entering a Buddhist temple. Take your shoes off before going
inside the hall of worship. Ladies must not on any account touch a Buddhist monk, give things direct to him or receive things directly from him.
Public displays of intimacy are generally regarded unfavorably, and should be avoided.
Sunbathing in the nude is prohibited. Call Thais by their first names; use the title "Khun" to all adults (male & female). Thai people smile to express gladness and happiness, to thank for small services, to
return the wai (a way of greeting) of children and inferior persons, and even to excuse small inconveniences.
4. Thai Cuisine Most Thai food is already cut into small pieces before serving or made soft enough to be cut
with a spoon or fork; thus, knives are not necessary. Salt-shakers are rarely found on Thai dinner tables, so add a little caramel-color fish-sauce
(called nam pla in Thai) instead, if you find your food not salty enough. English is spoken in large restaurants; and most establishments have menus in Thai and
English, except street-side food stalls and some small restaurants. Normally, a tip of 10-20 Baht or 5 -10% of the bill should be left when dining in a middle-or
high-class restaurant.
