Your assignment is to explore the ‘Night’, your work can takes place any time between dusk and dawn, so planning is essential as during this time the range of colours can vary greatly over a short period of time. Or you may choose to manipulate your images by using processes to trick the camera giving the illusion of night.

You will be required to research and produce a series of at least 3 images that work as a set, or a moving image piece of at least 20seconds and no more than 90seconds. This work should avoid clichés such as light trails and look for alternate approaches, and have a narrative that talks to the audience provoking a feeling/reaction. Your target audience should be clearly identified and justified. Your shoots/projects should be titled and each image/piece should be given a title and a caption of no more than 20 words.

Explore a range of processes, techniques and materials that are suitable for the project. Diversify from your usual style of work by experimentation; remember work can also be produced in more than 2D, with 3D (mixed media) or 4D (Sounds). Always adhere to any Health and Safety rules or guidelines.

Your logbook should show an analytical approach to your project with an evaluation of the materials techniques and processes most suitable to your final work including at each stage of your experimental exploration.

Include all of your research, contact sheets and experimental work in your logbooks, as they will form part of your final overall mark. You should evaluate all work including experimentation, considering their suitability at relevant stages of the process, refining your ideas ensuring methods are modified to achieve outcome.
