MAP CHARITY Fundraising Manager Role Description Background MAP Charity (Music and Arts Production Leeds) is a pioneering alternative provider in creative education, offering qualifications and first-hand experience to young people at risk of exclusion from the mainstream school system. We inspire young people to reach their potential through a unique and replicable model which transforms how education and businesses interact. Fundraising Manager Role Description

Background MAP Charity (Music and Arts Production Leeds) is a pioneering alternative provider in creative education, offering qualifications and first-hand experience to young people at risk of exclusion from the mainstream school system. In 2018 we launched the Hope Foundry capital campaign, and having just purchased the site in October 2019 we are working with our supporters and the community to refurbish Hope Foundry, our home of 11 years, evolving the entirety of the site into a vital creative hub for Leeds.

major donor cultivation, and mass appeal campaign strategy to join our dynamic and dedicated staff team. You will play a leading role in the development of this £1m fundraising campaign and the future of the charity.

Job Title Fundraising Manager

Salary and terms £30,000 per annum

Full time post, 40 hours per week

Typically 5 days per week, Monday – Friday, 9 am – 5 pm (with some flexibility required to work some evenings and weekends)

role and the team role in raising funds across the organisation, working closely with the Directors to identify and implement funding opportunities in line with our strategic objectives and targets. You will work across all revenue streams with a specific focus on raising funds from trusts and foundations and individuals.

While you will be the sole fundraiser in the staff team, our management team, senior volunteers, partners and skilled board of trustees are also actively involved in supporting fundraising, networking and advocacy initiatives. You will be expected to work across these teams to maximise the charity’s fundraising initiatives.

Job Description Grants:

● Prepare and submit grant applications to trusts and foundations and corporate supporters, to enable the delivery of MAP Charity’s business plan, particularly the Hope Foundry refurbishment project.

● Maintain and develop a pipeline to grow with the aspirations of the organisation, understand funders’ objectives and identify potential links with key organisational priorities, discovering and maximising new opportunities.

● Expertly steward existing support, with a view to encouraging renewals and upgrades.

● Be responsible for reporting to funders and ensuring the appropriate members of staff are made aware of funders’ requirements and project deadlines.

Individuals:

● Responsible for major donor cultivation, asks and stewardship plans.

● Ensure all gifts are processed and acknowledged in an effective and timely manner.

● Oversee all donor communications (including individual correspondence, newsletters and leaflets).

Campaigns and events:

● Work with MAP Charity’s Ambassadors and staff team to maximise and develop the current mass appeal campaign and related marketing and PR activities, in order to ensure continued and increased support from the public and excellent brand presence.

● Provide events coordination and networking support, liaising with partners, stakeholders and the press as appropriate.

Corporate:

● Grow corporate income through sponsorships and partnerships, developing relevant and attractive sponsorship opportunities for local companies.

Strategy and business planning:

● Develop and manage the delivery of MAP Charity’s fundraising strategy for the years 2020 - 2022, ensuring it is in line with the charity’s communications delivery.

● Work with staff to identify funding priorities and develop compelling cases for support at all levels.

Management and administration:

● Ensure the upkeep of organisational systems, including our Airtable stakeholder database and grant funding pipeline, and proactively implement improvements to support the organisation’s systems and processes.

● Help manage volunteers, partners and staff to effectively deliver fundraising projects and events on and off-site.

● Prepare progress reports for MAP Charity’s Board of Trustees and sub-committees, and other colleagues using Excel, Microsoft Office, and Google documents and ensuring feedback is appropriately noted and actioned.

● Conduct additional evaluation, research and development related to fundraising and development activities, looking to increase and diversify the charity’s income streams.

● Ensure compliance with GDPR and the standards established by the Fundraising Regulator.

Financial monitoring and reporting:

● Monitor and report on relevant budgets and funds raised, in line with targets set.

● Maintain up to date fundraising and donor records.

● Provide quarterly Gift Aid returns.

● Keep a log of in-kind donations and services provided to the organisation for financial reporting purposes.

● Assist the Project Director with financial administration of fundraising activities, support the development of financial documents to develop

business planning and bid writing activities.

● Keep up to date with tax benefit legislation.

NB: This role profile is not exhaustive; it will be subject to periodic review with the post holder and may be amended to meet the changing needs of the organisation.

Person Specification

Essential:

● Demonstrable professional experience fundraising in a relevant sector with working knowledge of the arts, community and/or education funding system.

● Experience of cultivating fruitful relationships with trusts and foundations, corporate, and/or individual donors and supporters.

● Proven track record of meeting targets and of securing six figure gifts from trusts, foundations or the public sector.

● Experience of working with crowdfunding and mass appeal campaigns.

● Ability to work with others to develop strategic vision and problem solving capabilities.

● Ability to network effectively both within the organisation and externally.

● Skilled in prioritising effectively within fast paced working environments and able to be administratively self-sufficient.

● Project management experience.

● Ability to work with confidential and sensitive information, as well as processing personal information in line with GDPR legislation.

● Sound knowledge of UK charitable giving and taxation as applies to fundraising.

● Experience of managing and monitoring budgets.

● Effective IT skills including word processing and creation of PowerPoint presentations, use and management of databases.

● Working knowledge of Excel and financial administration, with good standard of numeracy and analytical skills.

● Exceptional written and spoken communication skills.

● A passion for culture, education and community projects.

● Some flexibility to work some weekends or evenings when required.

Desirable:

● Working knowledge of capital fundraising for building projects of £1m+.

● Experience of soliciting major gifts (£25,000 upwards) from individuals.

● Experience of developing and delivering sponsorship packages.

● Event management experience.● Working knowledge of marketing and PR.

● Staff/volunteers supervisory experience.
