Having enjoyed the recollections of Rag of past years in your magazine prompted me to search for my Rag memories. Rag was definitely a highlight of the year both socially and in collecting money for charity. It was all such fun. I was a drum majorette in 1972 and enjoyed it very much. Can remember our training sessions at the bottom of the campus alongside the mens' residence. Need I say any more? The men would laugh if we made a mistake and were made to run to the end of the road and back. The social life was great. The excitement of Rag day was amazing and the razzle that evening is full of fond memories. Sue Rance, Jenny Dold, Val Maynard, Jane Heron and Anneli Silvennoinen

In 1973 a group of my friends and I built a float to resemble the Pink Panther. We called it "Pink Pants aaaaaah". Float building was in the grounds of the old Rand Easter Show and it went on all night. We were so exhausted the next morning that we all overslept. We were the last float in the procession as a result. The float had a long Pink Panther nose and the allocated driver found it almost impossible to turn corners with this enormous nose. None of us had thought of this the night before.

The pictures of 1973 were after the procession when we finally made it back to campus. Another wonderful memory.

In 1974 again a group of friends and I organised a special march and called it "Keep on Truckin'." We learnt the words of the song and marched and sang throughout the procession. The picture is of us back at the Civic Centre after the Rag.

I also found the photo of our table at Freshers' Ball in 1972, which was held in what was then called the canteen.

The menu is included and the prices have risen somewhat.

I graduated in 1975 with a BA. H Dip Ed and went on to teach for 40 years. To this day I maintain that my years at Wits were some of the best years of my life.
