Homework for October 21 to 25

Homework books and folders will be sent home on Mondays.

***Please only submit homework when it is FULLY completed. For example, please do not send in the printing practice pages on Tuesday and the homework book on Wednesday. This can cause confusion and things can go missing!*****

If your child has brought home a Character Education bag, please ensure that the bag, activity, and all of the bag contents are returned by Thursday.

Parents are responsible for checking that all assignments have been completed, marking each assignment, and having your child do corrections.

1. Home ReadingIt is very important for students to read for 15-20 minutes each night. Raz Kids log in cards are glued on the inside of the front cover of the homework notebook. Students should be using Raz Kids at least 3 times each week. You can also use books from home, the school library, public library, or their Poetry folder when it is sent home.

Raz Kids – Go to LEVEL UP, not Reading Room, to find the books that are at your child’s “just right” reading level. As we continue our work together, your child’s level may be changed to a higher or lower level as needed. When using Raz Kids, students should First, read the book, then listen to the book, and finally, do the quiz.

2. Spelling Words:

*SPELLING WORK SHOULD BE COMPLETED IN THE HOMEWORK NOTEBOOK OR ON A SHEET OF LINED PAPER, AND HANDED IN. When writing out the spelling words, ensure your child is printing with proper letter formation*  

We have provided three   options  for the spelling portion of the homework.  Please choose the option that is most successful for your child. ***All students should be practicing each word at least 3 times each in their notebook.

Option One – Write all of the words three times each in your homework book.   Option Two – Write all of the words three times each in your homework book.   Write one sentence for each word (5 sentences in all) using a capital and a period. For example:  I have one gold fish. 

Option Three – Write all of the words three times each in your homework book. Write one detailed sentence for each word (5 sentences in all). Include who/what/where/when/why details and/or descriptive words to your sentence. For example: I have a gold fish that I feed every day. 

*When writing out the spelling words, ensure your child is printing with proper letter formation and is leaving a space between words.*

3. Letter Printing Pages – m, n, and p –Option 1 - Print off, complete, and place the pages with the homework notebook.Option 2 – Have your child print the letters in the homework notebook. For each letter, print 4 rows of lowercase and 2 or more words that have the letter sounds (at, ate, all / can, city / did)*You do not need to complete additional writing for these letters and words.

4. Math:MATHLETICS–Every week, your child will be assigned one or more tasks. Your child should not complete any other assignments other than those assigned each week. For additional challenge or review, your child can click on Play or Review.

5.PATTERN ART – Print off the Pattern Art sheet. In each rectangle, make the type of pattern that is labelled on that rectangle. You can use just colors, or color and shapes. Repeat your pattern until rectangle is filled all the way around.
