All Saints LabelThe brand is central on the label, but is difficult to pick out; the colour and typeface is the same as the rest of the decorative type on the label, which gives no hierarchy. The design is distressed and aged; I think it is meant to resemble some kind of military labelling. The attachment is string; attached through a metal riveted hole in the label and looped through the tag in the clothing easy to remove.

ALLSAINT COMPETITOR

British clothes brand All saints has just debuted its sixth US shop in Los Angeles, with plans for 50 subsequent shops to follow by 2015. Having premiered its first stateside store earlier this year, All Saints is setting its sights on a major US expansion. This summer, they ingrained themselves into the mind of young New York by hosting private parties on the Williamsburg waterfront during the Jelly pool parties, and the company's CEO for North America told fast company that All Saints is looking to bring "affordable luxury to the U.S. market." Think $400 leather jacket and designer denim starting at $110. Not bad.

Simply put, it’s a more exclusive price point of than that of All Saint’s high-street competitors, like H&M and Zara; but still far cheaper than the goods most high-end fashion houses are slinging. It’s kind of like J. Crew for the rock n’ roll set. Fast company notes, however, that All Saint’s niche approach could hinder reaching increasingly wide markets, as not everyone is looking for draped knitwear, slim-fitting denim, and deconstructionist dresses. But, “with sales grown almost tenfold” in the last four years (over $200 million), All Saints seems to have plenty of interested consumers. Is one step up from fast fashion, but not quite luxury line, the new hot spot as far as sartorial pricing is concerned? All Saints Receives New Look ELLA ALEXANDER

ALL SAINTS is embracing a new direction for autumn/winter 2012-13, or rather - as its creative director, Wil Beedle says - "a bold and confident evolution reflecting and redefining a new generation of metropolitan cool"."We are very proud of the brand heritage and DNA and its distinctive and unique point of view," said Beedle. "But, we need to keep moving and changing. We want to grow and to continue to delight and excite -to do that we must keep evolving."For the first time ever, the high street label is launching an advertising campaign - starring a host of emerging talents, spanning art, music, dance, literature and film. Featured names include fine art painter Tomo Campbell; violinist Marques Toliver; ballerina Vita Kan, singer Sophie Dickens; poet Greta Bellamacina and film-maker Laura Gosh.

"The campaign reflects the All Saints vision because the core values of innovation, artisan craftsmanship and diversity are celebrated within it," explained Beedle. While the brand - known for its rock 'n' roll inspired insouciant chic - is maintaining its signature quality leathers and silhouettes, Beedle hopes that its latest "upgraded, evolved, and improved" collection attracts a wider audience.

"We have broadened and refined the execution of the collection in such a way to excite new consumers, reconnect with existing fans and redefine the distinctive, attitude-driven pieces that the brand exploded on to the scene with some years ago," he explained. "The aesthetic is now updated."

Since launching in 1994, London-based label AllSaints has built a sturdy reputation around its luxe-but-tough-edged leather jackets. However, under the creative direction of Wil Beedle—who has been with the brand just over a year—it offers some pretty spiffy ready-to-wear, too. This season, AllSaints took its show on the road and for the first time revealed its new collection via an installation during New York fashion week. “The collection felt ready,” said Beedle when asked why he chose Spring ’14 for his NYFW debut. “We felt like it was time to show it in line with the fashion calendar, and share [ourclothes] with a global community,” he added. Indeed, Beedle had lots to present to the international press and buyers who came to visit AllSaints’ largely black-clad mannequins, which were lined up inside a sprawling abandoned garment factory on Mercer Street.

As part of the brand’s ongoing digital push, the multifaceted, two-day event included

everything from a film shoot (a promo for the label’s new focus on footwear) to a live illustrator—whose floral drawings will later be printed on limited-edition T-shirts—to photo shoots, which took place on the warehouse roof. Much of this was live-streamed to the All Saints Web site. And while the spectacle made for interesting Online viewing, it was a little complex for those of us who were there—in real life—to see the clothes.

Speaking of the clothes, they were great. A paper-thin knee-length bonded-leather vest—worn with an easy gray tank and a black-and-white floral-print skirt—was a clear standout, while a pair of chiffon basketball shorts, shown with a crisp white blouse and the house’s signature black bomber, seemed an upmarket take on the street wear styles we’ve been seeing of late. Playing with the concept of transparency, Beedle layered a hand-beaded silver vest over a white oxford, turned out a shirtdress in sheer black lace, and covered a saucy nude frock with a translucent chiffon en noir. The silhouettes combined soft draping (like relaxed silk trousers that tapered at the ankle) with razor-sharp lines (coats were clean and oversize) for an effect that felt hypermodern—and wearable.

MATTHEW WILLIAMSON READY TO WEAR SPRING SUMMER 2014 LONDONMatthew Williamson has always been a London Fashion Week favourite. Known as a master

colourist, his palette this season is vibrant but merely satisfactory for his usual high standards.

As an acknowledged master colourist, Matthew Williamson set his colour popping collection in the super slick museum space, the Saatchi Gallery. He has frequently been a LFW favourite and for this SS14, he refers to the 70s saturated tangerine tones, crayon-drawn flower and floating fabrics. The collection compares bohemian with business: from the petrol-spilt blue aviators to the thin, ankle-length trousers in shimmering satins.

Influences from African prints and tie-dye are modernised with slouchy silhouettes and bands of rich coloured satin.  The tie-dye technique, appearing more like splash of pale yellow, powder paint, is undeniably intricate with its handcrafted, daisy-sized petals. Embellished garden dresses in summery shades make for the perfect daytime attire. For evening ensembles however, a pale yellow chiffon dress with a slick of grey forming a halter neck or a black organza dress with white embroidered flowers cascading down the front: an assortment of attire is available.

The designer's Spring/Summer 2014 collection was in full bloom.

On Monday, Scottish designer Christopher Kane debuted his Spring/Summer collection with a microscopic view into one of the season’s most popular motifs -- florals. For most designers, reinventing the average flower pattern would pose a challenge. But young Kane, referred to by Vogue as the “Willy Wonka” of fashion, was able to infuse life and innovation into this collection, making the concept of "florals for spring" feel fresh and new.

Between the casual and cool sweatshirts emblazoned with words such as “PETAL” and “FLOWER” and a fashionable diagram of a flower cross-section, Kane created a seriously chic throwback to high school biology class.

MULBERRY READY TO WEAR SPRING SUMMER 2014 LONDON

Mulberry's London Fashion Week Spring/ summer 2014 show was gorgeous yet a tad bittersweet as models walked Emma Hill's last line for the brand. But, let's keep our chins up - Hill will go on to spectacular pastures new and she leaves us for now with this collection. Here's what you need to know... The palette went from soft to punchy - nudes, clean whites and daisy prints gave way for fiery orange and quirky pattern. The Mulberry silhouette of next season is all about lightness, drape and volume - think culottes and pyjama suits. Silver jacquard is your new obsession.

Featuring clean lines that references typically British fashion, prints and silhouettes recalling the sixties are showcased at the center of the aesthetics of this collection, while classy colors like white, black and red, and some earthy tones created the atmosphere of a Spanish flamenco evening on the runway. Each outfit maintains an aftertaste deliberately sporty, contrasting with decorative choices flowering, never mawkish.

Topshop Unique SPRING/SUMMER 2014 READY-TO-WEAR

Woe betides the woman who plans to wear a bra this spring. Topshop Unique wasn't the first show this season to assert that the back is the erogenous zone du jour, but the theme was drilled home with particular emphasis here. The Topshop runway featured acres of naked back, with particular repetition of nineties-ish spaghetti-strap sundress that dove low, low, low down the spine. Elsewhere, the nineties theme played out in a few other ways, such as the big low-slung jeans with a raw look and a gigantic cuff, and the prevalent suede and gaudy print, both of which evoked the seventies as they were reinterpreted two decades later. Fashion is a hall of mirrors, indeed. Beyond that, it was difficult to detect coherence in this collection: some mirror embellishment, a little raw-edged take on the classic Chanel bouclé suit with slouchy shorts, a soupcon of the crafty, courtesy of batik prints and hand-knits. That's an incomplete summary of the ideas thrown into the mix, but you get the gist. Eclectic may have been the point, but it didn't add up to a strong statement. In the end, what stuck with you was the image of Jordan Dunn in a long blue bias-cut slip dress as she walked away, revealing the world's most perfectly engineered, and enviably braless back. It's going to be a long summer, girls with tits.
