For the next two weeks we will be having a focus on poetry. We will be looking at the work by poet Allan Ahlberg.

Maths Multiplication and Division –
We are continuing our unit of multiplication and division. There are some links for counting in 2s, 5s and 10s. We are starting to look at the value of 2p, 5p and 10p coins. There are some worksheets below for grouping too.

Lesson 1:
Talk about what is happening in this picture from Church’s Story (people receiving Holy Communion). Holy Communion means being
close to Jesus and God his Father. It also means being close to each other. We are all God’s children.
Introduce the words chalice, host and Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion and talk about them through these questions
Q What do you see in the picture? (Priest, people, Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, Chalice)
Q What is happening? (The priest giving the host, Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion giving the chalice)
Q What do people do who do not receive Holy Communion? (cross arms against their chest and receive a blessing)
Complete the activity using the host and chalice (below)
Lesson 2:
The parish family gathers at Mass to share Jesus’ meal; the celebration of the Last Supper. The parish family also comes together to celebrate at other times (coffee mornings, parish dances, quiz nights, shared meals, carol services, barbecues). Talk about the occasions when they may occur, Christmas, the feast day of the saint to whom the church is dedicated, Pentecost etc.

Use this picture from Church’s Story 2 pages 22-23 talk about what is happening and why you think people are happy? How are they sharing God’s love? Use speech bubbles to show what people could be saying to each other as they celebrate together.
History Learning Objective:
Work through the attached power point, looking at transport and how it has changed over time. Complete the time line attached, putting the modes of transport in the correct order from oldest to newest.
Geography Learning Objective: To identify features of our local area
In Geography we are learning about the local area and looking at the human and physical features of the local area. Last lesson you looked at the human and physical features of your local area.
Using the worksheet below, can you have another walk around your local area and see if you can identify the different places?

Music Learning Objective: To make a musical instrument
Tamborine – 2 paper plates, masking tape, rice or pasta to fill, pens to decorate
Shaker – Any empty bottle/container, fill with rice, pasta, lentils, beads. Decorate with coloured pieces of paper, sweet wrappers.
