To be aware of the basic IT skills needed to design and create a board game. Using Word or publisher. Learning Task: Use your imagination to design a board game for all the family. You should design it around a theme or something you are interested in. For instance - Going on holiday – Collecting fossils – Superheroes – How to become a millionaire – Pikachu characters – Fortnite. How imaginative can you be? Make up your own theme. I have provided you with a grid of squares to get you started. You may use this or make your own way of travelling around the board. Am also happy for you to design and build this board game by hand. Your choice. Click on the board game quiz to get started. How I filled in the squares is explained lower down on this page. When you have designed and built your game answer these questions: - 1, Why have you chosen this theme? Answer – 2, What is the age range that your game design is aimed at? Answer – 3, Are the rules of the game clear? Answer – 4, How many players could play this game together? Answer – 5, What problems did you have when designing this game? Answer – 6, Was my Design and Tech-opoly game useful to learn some of the steps when creating your game? Why? Answer 7, Did you use the snipping tool on the computer to fill in the boxes on your board? Answer – 8, How could you improve the game you have designed? Answer – Have a think about making your own games. This will be next week’s task. Key questions: What other considerations have you taken to make your game entertaining for yourself and others? Have a go at making your own game. If I can do it you can too, I bet you can do better than me.How I did it.Open word – click on orientation – Change to landscape – Click on insert a table – Highlight the whole table – click on the word document – click on the tab at the bottom right of the table – Drag it down until it covers the whole page. I’ve done this bit for you.

Colour the squares you want to use – Click on the square - Click on home – Click on the down arrow next to the paint pot – choose a colour - Number the squares in order and direction you want to travel – Directional arrows – Click on insert – click on shapes – select the arrow – click where you want to start – drag the arrow to where you want it to finish.Merge cells – Highlight the cells you want to merge – Click on Home – Click on layout – Click on Merge cells.Inserting pictures – Click on where you want the picture – Find the picture you want to insert on google – use the snipping tool on your computer to capture image because it works every timeUsing the snipping tool – Click on Type here to search at the bottom of the screen on the laptop – Type in Snipping tool – click on it – it will now be on your task bar – Click on snipping tool – Screen will go greyish – Position cross at the top left of the image you want to capture – left click hold down and move over picture – Right click – copy – return to your game – right click – paste – Size your picture to fit the square or merged squares.Email me photos of your finished game and playing your game or my games. Tell me why yours is better than mine. Of course, you could be clever and make your game by hand.
