Genocide and The Holocaust

PremiseAfter viewing ‘Schindler’s List’ we should have an understanding of what the Jews endured during the Holocaust. The reasons for Jewish marginalization, mistreatment, and, ultimately, genocide encompasses a tangle of issues centering upon but not limited to Jewish acquisition of wealth, religious beliefs, and their influence in Jesus’ death. We have discussed this information prior to viewing the movie. Once the Jews were liberated, issues arose regarding where should the Jews go and what country would be willing to take them. The creation of Israel, the Jewish nation-state, becomes a reality in 1948.

Requirements Your job is to put yourself in the shoe of the Jew after the war. You must lobby United Nations to establish a Nation-State. You are to create a Prezi that discusses the (1) the reason why Jews have been persecuted, (2) the awful things that happened to the Jews during the war, and (3) their need to have a Nation-State (Zionism is the term for those who are pushing for a nation of their own). The state will obviously be Israel so no need to choose a different location. This assignment should be school appropriate, can include music, and should incorporate the many cool functions of Prezi.
