SukkotAs a class we are looking at the Jewish festival of Sukkot.

During this festival the Jews remember when God freed them from slavery in Egypt. They left Egypt and wandered in the desert for forty years before they reached the Promised Land of Israel.

A sukkah is built which is a hut where Jews lived during those years in the desert.

We would like to build small model replicas of them. They need to be no bigger than a shoebox. The children need to think what they can use to make them with.

The making will be done in class.The criteria for building a sukkah:

it must have 3 walls – card maybe. it must have a roof made from something natural. They

can use plastic Lego parts or paper shaped as leaves and branches.

inside should be decorated with things from the harvest. Again these can be plastic or we can make them at school
