Dream Board Visualization is one of the most powerful tools you can use as a therapeutic tool and a helpful way of learning for many of us. This is why creating a visual display of a child’s dreams, goals, thoughts, or feelings can be so beneficial. This activity can be made in so many ways. For middle and high school students the dream board may contain magazine clippings of their dream job or goals for the future. For younger kiddos the collage could contain words or pictures that the children believe represent who they are. In this activity the process of creating the dream board itself can be very therapeutic. Children can flip through the magazine pictures and visualize their futures, hopes, dreams, or reflect on who they are as a person. While browsing through the magazines the therapist can have open conversations with the students and can potentially learn a lot more about their client’s as the students start to identify various likes and interests. If you would like to add a little bit more structure to this activity you can first have the students make a list of their goals and then try to find images or words that correlate with the goals they set. Supplies: Scissors Magazines Cardstock or construction paper Glue stick

Another way to do this activity is by using river rocks, magazine clippings, and mod podge:
