PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE: What are you especially thankful for this November: Your family, your friends?  The fact that we live in the best country in the world where we have freedoms unknown to much of the rest of the world?  We owe these freedoms to our heroic veterans!  So come join your BPW sisters, including District XI Director Melissa Wieand and Assistant Director Jennifer Van Ingen, at our November 26th General Membership meeting at McCoole's when Shelby Kopp of the Travis Manion Foundation will tell us what is going on with the veterans in our midst and how we can help to show them how much we appreciate what they have done for us!

Don't forget our joint Holiday Party with Upper Perk BPW on Monday, December 9th, at the Valley Café, Route 663, Pennsburg.  We are providing the entertainment -- a quartet from the Liberty Belles, the female counterpart of the North Pennsmen Barbershop Chorus.

So, as this year draws to a close … Happy Thanksgiving!  Merry Christmas!  And a very happy, healthy New Year to you all! Linda   BOARD ACTIONSThe Board approved making a $250 donation to the Travis Manion Foundation and agreed to participate in the Christmas Angels program from Quakertown Community Outreach as our Holiday project. $75 will be sent to the Quakertown Boys Basketball Team for a ¼ page ad in their program. DISTRICT 11FALL DISTRICT MEETINGQuakertown was well represented at the meeting with 16 in attendance. Melissa Wieand was endorsed as a candidate for BPW/PA Vice-President. BPW/PA President-Elect Marisa Harmon made her official visit and congratulated our district on winning the Eleanor Briener Award (Left- Marisa and Missy). A long discussion was held concerning the World Affairs Luncheon and future District 11 Social Events. The first surprise was Quakertown winning the Bernice Maxwell Issues Management award (Quakertown with Ginnie Tietgens) and the second was our winning

the Eleanor Knoke Award. This achievement is thanks to all our members for their willingness to work on projects, enter contests, attendance at district and state meetings, and most of all the 75% attendance at our local meetings. The positions of Assistant Director and Recording Secretary will be selected in the spring. If you would be interested in either of these,

please contact Judy Guise, Nominations Chair.

GREEN PROJECTWe will be collecting your clear or colored discarded prescription pill bottles, both large and small, for humans or animals, with or without secure caps. They need to have the labels removed and be cleaned .No sticky sides. There will also be a bag for these at our monthly meetings. Many bottles were collected at the Fall meeting and we hope to see a similar amount at the Spring Meeting.

ELEANOR KNOKE FORMSLinda Lokay has a new form which will be completed at each monthly meeting. If you miss a meeting, contact Linda to secure a form for that month. All this will help keep Eleanor Knoke in Quakertown’s hands and Eleanor Briener in District 11. Our Eleanor Knoke Police Patrolwoman, Linda Lokay will be checking on you for your current recorded hours for this project.

BPW/PABPW/PA was saddened by the passing of Past President Denise Clawson. Denise has served the state organization well over the past 15 years. She was responsible for starting the BPW/PA Pay Equity Quilt in her Indiana local. After severing as BPW/PA Treasurer she went on to become President. Always will to assist, she really kept our state organization alive during some trying times after BPW/USA folded. She will be missed and we extend our prayers and sympathy to her husband, sons, the Indiana LO, and District 2.
