JOB DESCRIPTION Department: ICT Job Title: ICT Infrastructure Manager Grade: G Responsible to: Director of Group ICT & Change Date: May 2017 Responsible for: ICT Support Officers Purpose of job: To deliver an effective, secure and resilient Group ICT infrastructure that supports the Group’s organisational requirements, providing voice and data networks and ICT equipment, including servers, PCs, phones, printers and mobile devices. Duties and responsibilities: Contribute to the development and implementation of the ICT strategy, plans and policies as a member of the ICT team. Design and implement short and long term plans to ensure ICT infrastructure meets existing and future capacity and capability requirements. Develop, implement, manage and maintain the ICT infrastructure including server and network configuration, security, accessibility, connectivity, and backup. Maintain Hardware Asset Register detailing ICT equipment used by the Group, and identify, analyse and manage associated information risks. Develop procedures and associated implementation, testing and training plans for infrastructure administration, security and data management. Ensure compliance with internal and external information security requirements (i.e. Information Security Policy and Cyber Essentials Plus), maintain awareness of latest cyber-security threats and implement security measures to minimise risk to information assets. Ensure ICT systems are secure and resilient, carrying out proactive maintenance (e.g. patching) and ensuring processes and configurations are clearly documented. Ensure that the ICT Service Desk operates efficiently and effectively, providing technical support when necessary. Ensure that business continuity measures are implemented and kept up to date, including disaster recovery plans for critical systems and telephony.

Purpose of job: To deliver an effective, secure and resilient Group ICT infrastructure that supports the Group’s organisational requirements, providing voice and data networks and ICT equipment, including servers, PCs, phones, printers and mobile devices.

Duties and responsibilities: Contribute to the development and implementation of the ICT strategy, plans and policies as a

member of the ICT team. Design and implement short and long term plans to ensure ICT infrastructure meets existing and

Lead the technical aspects of ICT projects, providing technical expertise and support for non-ICT projects and changes where appropriate.

Ensure that ICT service desk team’s knowledge is kept up to date Promote cyber security awareness among computer users. Prepare business cases and project documents for ICT infrastructure projects Identify and take actions to manage ICT related risks. Maintain effective relationships with suppliers to secure best value for ICT goods and services,

and to encourage innovative ideas to be adopted. Use data to identify trends and common issues, and take appropriate actions to prevent or

reduce the impact of issues. Provide regular verbal and written reports to management on ICT service levels, planned

maintenance, issues and data.

Manage the recruitment, induction, training and development of ICT department staff to meet the objectives of the Fund.

Set objectives, monitor, review and appraise ICT staff performance. Co-ordinate and communicate with all other departments, colleagues and senior staff to ensure

an effective and efficient delivery of the ICT strategy and service. Carry out other appropriate duties as required.

Essential DesirableExperience Implementing, maintaining and trouble-shooting ICT

networks, server infrastructure, specifically using Microsoft Windows Server and email on Microsoft Exchange Server.

Managing a virtualised server environment. Implementing, trouble-shooting and using Microsoft Office

software - Outlook, Word and Excel. Managing ICT infrastructure implementation and change

projects. Managing an ICT service desk within a structured

environment (e.g. ITIL). Managing information security, including business

continuity and cyber security. Working with non-technical users to develop and

implement solutions that deliver improved operational effectiveness.

VMware database administration cloud services non-Microsoft ICT

environments cyber-security standards

(e.g. Cyber Essentials) structured project

management methodology e.g. PRINCE2

Developing and delivering training

Voluntary or third sector

Skills, knowledge and abilities

Broad range of ICT technical skills including installation, configuration and trouble-shooting of off-the-shelf hardware and software.

Project management skills. Excellent customer service skills. Good written and oral communication skills, able to present

concisely and accurately, and to convey complex technical matters in an easily understandable way.

Ability to manage conflicting priorities, work to deadlines, and handle pressure.

Able to demonstrate familiarity with information security principles and cyber security, including endpoint protection and infrastructure security.

Able to work flexibly to suit the needs of the organisation, including occasional unsociable hours

Able to work on own initiative and as part of a small team. Ability to think creatively to design and develop new

technology. Ability to inspire trust. Staff management and development skills. Understanding of personal and organisational

responsibilities regarding the Data Protection Act.

Understanding of personal and organisational responsibilities regarding other relevant legal and regulatory requirements e.g. health and safety, finance freedom of information, Charity Commission.

Education/ Training

Degree level qualification in an IT related subject or equivalent experience implementing, managing and maintaining business critical ICT systems.
