THIS IS YOUR MAIN TASK THIS WEEK IS TO CREATE TWO BLACK OUT OR COLOUR OUT POEMS (THREE IF YOU ENJOY THE PROCESS ).. Many would and have suggested that this piece of text has some universal truths within it (ex. That is, a universal truth is a literary term which suggests that universally (many people) at some point would connect with or experience at least some of what is being said or relayed in the text). Today given your reality (and /or that of your community, or of Canadians or collectively as global citizens) chose two or three separate lines from the text that Montag commits to memory that you most believe to be true or that you most connect or relate to at this time. Record those lines below. (Record the lines to you have or can make a text to self or text to “world” (big or small) connection to.

3. Who is Granger? In your response include three things we as a reader understand or is revealed to us about the character of Granger through Bradbury’s description. Write your answer in complete sentences please and include a minimum of one question of dialogue or description that the author pens to help us have a sense of who Granger is (include the page # after your quote to cite it properly . Your response could look somewhat like this :

“ Granger nodded to a portable battery TV set by the fire. ‘We’ve watched the chase. Figured you’d wind up south along the river. When we heard you plunging around out in the forest like drunken elk, we didn’t hide as we usually do’ “ (Bradbury 141). This quote reveals that Granger is a leader, observant, helpful and possesses a sense of humour.

Students notice how when citing a dialogue quote within a larger quote who need to indicate the dialogue with single quotations verses the double quotations that indicate the beginning and ending of the complete quote. NOW YOU TRY PLEASE TO IDENTIFY YOUR OBSERVATIONS OF GRANGER AND HOW YOU WOULD DESCRIBE HIM ( If you like you could also strive to state what role or reason Ray Bradbury, our author chose to include a character like Granger for Montag to meet. What purpose does this character serve to the plot and/or to us better understanding Montag’s character or journey?)_______________________________________
