background The scenery or ground that is behind a main figure or object.

foreground The part of a picture that is nearest to and in front of the viewer. Objects in the foreground seem larger than those in the background.

visual art The visual arts are art forms such as drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, design, crafts, photography, filmmaking etc.
