Creative Learning Assistant Manager(Fixed-Term Contract until December 2019)
About The Place
In the 1970s The Place became the first home for contemporary dance in the UK with London Contemporary Dance Theatre, while London Contemporary Dance School (LCDS) welcomed Martha Graham and Jane Dudley into the faculty.
In the 1980s The Place supported the origins of some of the UK’s leading independent dance companies launching Resolution, the first UK season for emerging artists and designing and developing the first University validated dance degree in Europe.
In the 1990s The Place’s artist development programmes were nurtured, and Richard Alston Dance Company became the resident company.
In the 2000s The Place Prize gave prominence to new choreography while LCDS co-founded the Conservatoire for Dance and Drama as a recognised Higher Education Institution of eight world-leading schools. Through LCDS we pioneer new partnerships and programmes to ensure that we continue to offer the highest quality dance training in the UK while developing dance as an art form.
As the Place moves to celebrate its 50th Anniversary we continue in our mission to be the leading home for new dance. We do this by engaging with people who want to watch, participate in, learn about and make dance. Our vision is to create an environment that supports individuals to achieve their full dance potential, whether that’s dancing for fun, watching dance or becoming an artist who creates world-class dance experiences.
The diversity of The Place is central to our future. We know that there is shared understanding of ‘protected characteristics’ but we want to go beyond those singular definitions of difference to respond to the intersection of barriers and disadvantage in order to widen participation, engagement, training, performance, production and leadership in dance. In doing so we accept and welcome challenge and change.
We are now seeking to appoint a Creative Learning Assistant Manager on a fixed-term basis to assist in and develop innovate outreach programmes within Primary and Secondary education, and to support in the delivery of our Contextual Programme and Community Projects. Our Creative Learning team are imaginative and passionate about sharing their knowledge and expertise and exploring new ways in which dance and movement can enrich learning and change lives. If you share that passion and are a self-motivated and organised individual, then we would love to hear from you.
