Dear Candidate,

Thank you for showing an interest in working at Thames Primary Academy. We are a very busy, inclusive but complex Academy; however, the number one priority for our Governors and all our staff is to give our children and their families the very best education, care and support that we can.

We are not just another Academy in Blackpool, or indeed the country. Thames is an exciting, often challenging place to be; however it is an excellent place for professionals to learn, develop their ‘craft’ and thrive. We want to help grow our staff to hopefully be leaders of the future!

As well as many dedicated, capable staff members, we also have strong multi- agency partnerships including our outstanding Nursery and Children’s Centre which enables us to further promote, and develop our capacity to deliver the best outcomes for our children.

JOB TITLE Temporary Classteacher

JOB PURPOSETo be responsible for the delivery and development of teaching and learning for a class of children, ensuring that each pupil realises at least good achievement, in accordance with the professional duties of a qualified teacher detailed within the current Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document and the Teacher Standards.

MAIN /CORE DUTIES

● Routinely plan, deliver and evaluate high quality lessons taking account of pupils prior attainment and age related expectations.

● Know when and how to differentiate appropriately using approaches which enable pupils to be taught effectively. Develop and manage appropriate intervention strategies that support such progress.

● Lead the adaptation of teaching by directing the use of additional adults to ensure the needs of all our pupils are met.

● Assess regularly and accurately in line with the Academy’s policy in order to ensure pupils make good or better progress.

● Be accountable and aspirational for the outcomes of all pupils in the class and ensure that almost all pupils achieve in line with school expectations for both progress and attainment.

● Establish a safe and stimulating learning environment, rooted in mutual respect, taking joint responsibility with all colleagues for whole school behaviour management to ensure consistency throughout the school in line with the Academy Behaviour Policy.

● (Depending on experience) take a lead in a subject area in order to champion, develop and evaluate the subject. Build on previous knowledge and use evaluation evidence to improve the subject and to have an impact on learning and outcomes for pupils.

● Employ effective strategies to secure sound relationships with parents in order to develop their understanding of the requirements of the curriculum, their child’s progress, attainment, targets and well being.

● Have a positive impact on the work of others by inspiring, motivating and challenging them to develop their skills in order to improve the quality of teaching and outcomes for pupils.

● Carry out a share of supervisory duties in accordance with published rotas.

● Participate in appropriate meetings with colleagues, parents and partners relative to the above duties.

● Support the wider life of the Academy by organising and attending out of school events that benefit the pupils and families of the Academy.
